Love & Sleep: The Love & Sleep memory foam mattress is designed with layers of 2.8 PCF memory foam and polyfoam in the comfort layer. The support core is built from 1.8 PCF polyfoam. The Love & Sleep is available in two firmness options: Medium and Luxury Firm.

Alexander Hybrid Luxury Contour: The Alexander Hybrid Luxury Contour highlights a comfort layer containing 3 layers: a cover made of 2.5 PCF copper-infused, phase-change gel memory foam; a middle layer of 3 PCF polyfoam; and a bottom layer of 4 PCF memory foam. The support center is built with individually-wrapped coils and a high-density polyfoam edge reinforcement.

Hybrid Latex: The Hybrid Latex variant has one layer of Dunlop latex in the comfort system. The support core is designed with pocketed coils and a base layer of 1.8 PCF high-density polyfoam. The cover is made from a blend of cotton and wool.

Latex Mattress: The Latex Mattress is offered in ‘Blended Latex’ and ‘Organic Latex’ options; the models have the same general composition, but differ substantially when it comes to pricing with the Organic option being more pricey. Additionally, the Latex Mattress is offered in 3 firmness options. The ‘Soft w/topper’ option has a comfort layer built from soft Dunlop latex, in addition to a three-inch Dunlop latex topper. This option is more expensive because of the inclusion of the topper. The ‘Medium’ and ‘Firm’ variants forgo the topper; the ‘Medium’ has a gentle Dunlop latex comfort layer and a firm Dunlop latex support center, while the ‘Firm’ uses a firm Dunlop latex comfort layer and a gentle Dunlop latex support core.

In my opinion, the Alex Signature Series (memory foam) and the Alex Signature Hybrid are great mattresses, especially given the price.

Construction

The 3 varying firmness options of the Alexander Signature Hybrid all use the same basic structure, but with slightly different foams and densities. Each bed begins with 8 inches of individually-pocketed support coils. The next layer is 1 inch of “SmartFlow” support polyfoam, that’s designed to improve airflow and assists with heat retention. Each firmness level uses 3 PCF (pounds per cubic foot foam within this layer. The following layer is 1.5 inches of either 2.5 PCF copper-treated “Energex” polyfoam (Plush), 3.5 PCF copper-treated Energex polyfoam (Medium) or 4.5 PCF slow-recovery memory foam (Luxury Firm). The last layer is 1.5″ of “TitanChil” cooling polyfoam. The mattress cover is 1.5″ of 4 PCF gel-infused memory foam inside a quilted, cooling cloth. This provides a pillowtop-like feel.

Firmness

The Alexander Signature Hybrid is offered in three firmness levels: Plush (3), Medium (5) and a Luxury Firm (8). Firmness is based on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the most firm and 1 being the least firm. You can choose between Plush, Medium, and Luxury firm. Weight is going to make an impact on what works for you. Generally, heavier people fare better with firmer mattresses while lighter people usually find they can get more hug and contour on plusher beds.

Motion Transfer

Hybrids usually do not isolate movement as well as all-foam beds typically do, due to the fact that inner-springs allow movement to more easily move across the surface of the bed. The Alexander Signature Hybrid, though, has various foam layers above its inner-springs. These layers aid the bed absorb motion to a significant extent. As soon as I turned and tossed next to my spouse, you could not identify much movement in her body. She mentioned that she could feel the movement, although it was minimal. In spite of this, the mattress still features great bounce.

Sinkage

If you have mobility issues, moving around in a reclined position can be challenging. Classic memory foam often caused a lot of sinkage that it made it hard to move around. But if you have too much bounce, it’s easy to disturb rest.

You may experience some sinkage using the Alexander Signature Hybrid due to its plush foam uppermost layers. However, this sinking feeling is different from what you’d receive with a more traditional memory foam mattress as it’s mitigated by the mattress’ supportive individually-wrapped coil system. Meaning you’ll sink, but will still be able to move around easily and get out of the mattress without too much effort. While there’s some sinkage here, it is not as dramatic as it would be about a typical memory foam bed. This creates excellent pressure relief without that stuck-in-the-bed experience.

Edge Support

The inner-spring coil support core of the Alexander Signature Hybrid functions to reinforce its edges. This provides an even sleeping surface across the entire bed and helps prevent sagging and sinkage around the perimeter of the bed. The spring coils are exceptional at providing that solid core you require. When I moved in various positions, I felt pretty well-supported. I could feel and you can actually see where I really do sink in a quite a bit, but the sinkage from the bed ends where the inner-spring coils begin. Despite the soft foam top layers, this bed is impressively supportive, thanks to the 8 inches of individually-wrapped coils in its core. It’s super effortless to get in and out of the bed, and I’m wellsupported when I lie on the border, a big benefit for sleeping partners.

Heat Retention

The Alexander Signature Hybrid is quite cool. The inner-spring coils permit enough airflow, helping to diminish body warmth. The foam layers, which in most cases trap heat, are treated with cooling gel and copper to offset this common problem. This bed is a fantastic match for those who need to rest cool. This hybrid does a fantastic job of dispersing and isolating heat, resulting in a sleeping experience that is marvelously cool.

Off-Gassing

After an Alexander Signature Hybrid mattress is manufactured, it’s compressed, vacuum-sealed in plastic and delivered to your front door in a marked box. Every time a mattress is compressed and vacuum-sealed, it tends to have a temporary odor when it’s opened. This odor is known as “off-gassing.” You can expect to see this with the Alexander Signature Hybrid, however, the odor should fade quickly.
