Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced using polyfoam base layers. Can’T Sleep On Helix Piercing

Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Buyers are asked to complete a questionnaire that discusses their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress variants; each individual variant offers a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:

  • Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
  • Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
  • Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support

Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for side sleepers. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfortable on variants with balanced support, while those who weigh 130 lbs or more tend to prefer the variants with extra support.

Helix Sleep also markets two mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both these models have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them great for couples with differing tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier people. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.

My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a wide assortment of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Can’T Sleep On Helix Piercing

Construction Can’T Sleep On Helix Piercing

All 9 of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be quite similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.

Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness depending upon the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the models have all the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine unique variants (and supposedly have a mattress for everybody). Can’T Sleep On Helix Piercing

Underneath, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.

helix-midnight-construction

Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some wonderful breathability. However, if you prefer something more luxurious, you can choose to swap out the normal cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change material for heat regulation.

Comfort Layer – Up top, you will discover a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you’re likely to experience some satisfying body contouring. While it might seem odd for a purportedly medium firm mattress to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it’s important to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it produces quite a firm feeling.

Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you’ll find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the pocketed coils below.

Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this segment of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the structure, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since the coils are wrapped individually, they are also likely to give extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.

Base Layer – Lastly, you’ll find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer does not really affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.

Firmness and Support

After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us talk about their different firmness levels and feels.

helix-mattress-firmness-and-support-scale

The firmness of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on the version you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and thus best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with additional choices.

Lying down on the Midnight, the memory foam layer is soft and generates some top quality body shaping, while the other materials in the Midnight work to control this and create an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also assist with re-positioning.

For back sleepers, there is just enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or people who prefer a firmer mattress, there are two more options for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.

Most side sleepers will feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you are needing less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you may want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.

Those who sleep on their side typically have to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with most their weight on a smaller area. People who are smaller than average or those looking for lots of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher models.

Those who sleep on their stomach should feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their primary position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.

Finally, the manufacturer recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 lbs or couples that weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. If you or your partner are substantially bigger than average, the company has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.

Partners with different types of bodies or tastes may also pick a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.

Keep in mind that if none of those models seem quite right, you could always check out the 4 other models in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).

Motion Transfer

Now, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is detectable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this will be crucial for many sleepers, those who sleep with a partner may find it especially intriguing as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you’ll be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Can’T Sleep On Helix Piercing

According to my research, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the pocketed coils which help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that movement from the opposite side of the bed will bother you, then you shouldn’t have much concern with this hybrid. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.

Sinkage

While purchasing a brand-new mattress, most individuals want to know whether they’ll feel as though they are sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.

While you may encounter a little immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, when you sink through those layers, you are going to reach the pocketed coils and experience amazing support. This combo will appeal to a wide assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers the most.

Edge Support

Though I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the coils stop the mattress from compressing a lot . I feel very secure sitting on the bed.

In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There can be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfy and safe. Couples who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.

Lying down, I also feel like I could get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll fall off or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I think the Helix has nice edge support.

100 Night Sleep Trial

One of the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically come with. Helix Sleep is not any different. You create the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and within two weeks, it’s delivered to your door. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not perfect, you can return it free, and receive a complete refund.

If you do return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. In fact, Helix locates a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it is recycled instead. Can’T Sleep On Helix Piercing

Helix Warranty

The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most warranties). Of course, you should be the original owner of the Helix to use the warranty, and you will need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.

Provided that you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you need to use a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4″ apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!

If your mattress starts to have an indentation of 1 inch or longer, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?

Helix mattresses need no turning, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.

For regular cleanup, it’s advised to use cool water with gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Be sure that you clean using soft circular movements, rather than rubbing.
