Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores fortified with polyfoam base layers. Green Helix Deep Sleep
Helix Sleep allows full mattress customization. Customers are asked to complete a survey that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress variants; each individual option provides a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them optimal for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfy on variants with balanced support, while those who weigh 130 pounds or more often prefer the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both of these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them suitable for couples with differing tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier individuals. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a large variety of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Green Helix Deep Sleep

Construction Green Helix Deep Sleep
All 9 of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be quite similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness depending upon the foams used in order to attain more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the variants have all the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 different versions (and hopefully have a model for everybody). Green Helix Deep Sleep
Underneath, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you would like something more amped up, you can elect to swap out the regular cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change material for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will find a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you’re likely to encounter some gratifying body shaping. Even though it may seem odd for a supposedly medium firmness bed to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it’s crucial to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress consists of this section of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Because these coils are wrapped individually, they are also likely to encourage extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will uncover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This segment does not affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us talk about their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix will vary widely depending on which model you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be quite versatile and therefore best-selling. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with additional options.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer feels soft and produces some high quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials in the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer composition. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your back in a neutral position. For larger buyers or people who prefer a firmer mattress, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Majority of side sleepers should feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, however, if you are wanting a bit less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you may want to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with most of their weight on a smaller region. People who are smaller than average or those looking for a lot of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers should feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their main position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Last, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers around 350 lbs or couples that weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. If you or your partner are significantly larger than average, Helix has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that’s created to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with differing types of bodies or tastes may also select a dual comfort option that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of those models feel right, you could always have a look at the 4 other variants in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the collection).
Now, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s noticeable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this will be important for many sleepers, those who doze with a spouse may find it especially intriguing as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Green Helix Deep Sleep
According to my research, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the individually wrapped coils which help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that motion from the other side of the bed will bother you, then you shouldn’t have much concern with this hybrid. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
While buying a brand-new mattress, most people want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you may encounter a little immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, when you sink through those layers, you are going to reach the individually-wrapped coils and experience amazing support. This combination will appeal to a wide range of individuals, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from compressing too much beyond that. I feel quite secure sitting on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfy and secure. Partners who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Laying down, I feel like I could get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will roll over or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I believe that the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically include. Helix Mattress is no different. You create the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and within two weeks, it is delivered to your home. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it free, and receive a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. In fact, Helix finds a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it’s recycled instead. Green Helix Deep Sleep
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it comes with some limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Of course, you should be the first owner of the Helix to use the warranty, and you need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to have a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4″ apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress begins to have an indentation of 1 inch or longer, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleanup, it is suggested to use cool water with gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Be certain that you wash using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
