Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced with polyfoam base layers. Helix 100 Night Sleep Trial
Helix Sleep allows full mattress customization. Customers are asked to complete a survey that discusses their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other options. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress models; each individual model offers a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are suitable for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel more comfortable on variants with balanced support, while those who weigh 130 lbs or more often prefer the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them great for couples with differing preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier individuals. This model has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a large range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement well, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix 100 Night Sleep Trial

Construction Helix 100 Night Sleep Trial
All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be quite similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness depending upon the foams used in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the mattresses have all of the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 distinct models (and supposedly have a model for everyone). Helix 100 Night Sleep Trial
Underneath, I quickly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you prefer something more amped up, you can choose to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change fabric to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll encounter a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, meaning you are likely to experience some gratifying body shaping. While it might seem strange for a supposedly medium firm bed to feature a memory foam layer, it’s important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it generates quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this section of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since the coils are individually wrapped, they’re also likely to allow extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you’ll uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t really affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on the variant you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which will be very versatile and thus best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with additional choices.
Lying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer is soft and generates some top quality body contouring, while the other materials within the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s enough good comfort material in the Helix Midnight to conform to your lower spine while supporting your back in a neutral position. For larger buyers or those who want a firmer bed, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Many side sleepers will feel totally comfy on the Midnight, however, if you are needing less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you might want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with all of their weight on a tinier region. People who are lighter than average or those looking for a lot of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers will feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their primary position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Finally, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers around 350 pounds or partners that weigh up to 250 lbs each. In the event you or your partner are significantly larger than average, the company has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that is built to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with different body types or preferences can also pick a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of these models feel quite right, you could always have a look at the 4 other beds in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the line).
Next up, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is noticeable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this will be crucial for many buyers, those who sleep with a partner may find it especially intriguing as it will show just how bothered you may be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix 100 Night Sleep Trial
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the pocketed coils that help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that motion from the opposite side of the mattress will bother you, then you shouldn’t have much concern with this mattress. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
When purchasing a new mattress, the majority of men and women want to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
While you’re likely to encounter some immediate sinkage in the soft foam on top, when you sink through those layers, you’ll find the individually-wrapped coils and experience great support. This combination will appeal to a wide assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the Helix Midnight, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from collapsing too much beyond that. I feel quite secure seated on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their newly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There may be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfortable and secure. Partners who want more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Lying down, I feel like I can get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will roll over or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I believe the Helix mattress has great edge support.

Among the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually include. Helix is not any different. You customize the mattress that is made for you, place your order, and in a couple of weeks, it’s sent to your home. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t what you wanted, you can return it for free, and receive a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. Actually, Helix Sleep finds a local place to donate it. If there is no way the company can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix 100 Night Sleep Trial
The Helix Mattress includes an awesome 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it comes with some limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most warranties). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the Helix to make use of the guarantee, and you need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to use a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix begins to show an indentation of 1″ or longer, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleanup, it’s suggested to use cold water along gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Make sure that you clean using gentle circular movements, rather than rubbing.
