Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Dusk Luxe Mattress Review
Helix Sleep allows full mattress customization. Buyers are asked to fill out a survey that discusses their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other options. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress options; each respective variant gives a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are suitable for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfy on variants with balanced support, while those who weigh 130 lbs or more often prefer the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them suitable for couples with differing tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier people. This model has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a large assortment of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Dusk Luxe Mattress Review

Construction Helix Dusk Luxe Mattress Review
All nine of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be fairly similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness depending on the foams used in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The four unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the variants have all the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 unique variants (and hopefully have a mattress for everyone). Helix Dusk Luxe Mattress Review
Below, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you want something more luxurious, you can choose to swap out the regular cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change fabric to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will find a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you are likely to encounter some great body shaping. While it might seem odd for a supposedly medium firm mattress to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it is important to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you will find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress is made up of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Because these coils are wrapped individually, they are also likely to encourage extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will discover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section does not affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s talk about their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix will differ widely depending on the model you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and therefore best-selling. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with more options.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer is soft and generates some quality body shaping, while the other materials within the mattress work to counteract this and create an overall firmer structure. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your back in a neutral position. For larger buyers or people who prefer a firmer mattress, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Many side sleepers will feel totally comfy on the Midnight, however, if you are needing less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you might want to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with most of their weight on a tinier area. Those who are smaller than average or people in the market for a lot of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their primary position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Lastly, the manufacturer suggests Helix for sleepers up to 350 lbs or couples who weigh up to 250 lbs each. In the event you or your spouse are significantly larger than average, Helix has also created a bed called the Nightfall that is created to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with differing body types or tastes can also select a dual comfort option that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of these models seem right, you may always have a look at the 4 other mattresses in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant of the bunch).
Now, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s detectable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be crucial for all sleepers, those who sleep with a spouse may find it especially interesting as it’ll show just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Dusk Luxe Mattress Review
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it contains, as well as the individually wrapped coils which help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper concerned that motion from the opposite side of the bed will bother you, you shouldn’t have much concern with this mattress. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
While getting a brand-new mattress, the majority of men and women want to know whether they’ll feel as though they are sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
While you’re going to experience a little immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through those layers, you’ll find the individually-wrapped coils and experience great support. This combo will appeal to a vast assortment of individuals, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the foam compress as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from compressing too much beyond that. I feel very secured sitting on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their newly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There can be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfy and safe. Couples who want more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I could get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I will fall off or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I think that the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically include. Helix is no different. You customize the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and in two weeks, it’s sent to your door. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it free of charge, and receive a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. Actually, the company does its best to locate a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Dusk Luxe Mattress Review
Helix offers an awesome 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it has some limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most guarantees ). Of course, you should be the first owner of the mattress to make use of the warranty, and you will need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you need to use a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix starts to show an indentation of 1 inch or more, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleanup, it is suggested to use cool water with gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Make certain to wash using soft circular movements, instead of rubbing.
