Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores fortified with polyfoam base layers. Helix Latex Mattress
Helix Sleep allows full mattress customization. Purchasers are asked to fill out a questionnaire that asks for their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other elements. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress variants; each individual option offers a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them optimal for those who sleep on their side. While those that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfy on variants with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 lbs or more often prefer the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both of these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them suitable for couples with differing tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier individuals. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a large variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Latex Mattress

Construction Helix Latex Mattress
All nine of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be quite similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density based upon the foams used in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 different foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the beds have all the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine different variants (and hopefully have a mattress for everyone). Helix Latex Mattress
Below, I quickly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some great breathability. However, if you prefer something more amped up, you can elect to swap out the standard cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change material to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll discover a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, which means you are probably going to experience some great body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a purportedly medium firmness bed to feature a memory foam layer, it is important to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it gives quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you will find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this segment of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Because the coils are individually wrapped, they’re also likely to encourage additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you’ll uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This section does not really affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on the version you select. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be very versatile and therefore very popular. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with more options.
Laying down on the Midnight, the memory foam layer is soft and produces some high quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials within the mattress work to control this and create an overall firmer composition. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your back in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or those who want a firmer bed, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Majority of side sleepers will feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, however, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you may want to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with most of their weight on a smaller area. Those who are lighter than average or people looking for lots of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their primary position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their backbone.
Lastly, the manufacturer recommends Helix for sleepers up to 350 pounds or partners that weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. If you or your partner are substantially larger than average, Helix has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with different types of bodies or preferences can also pick a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of those options seem right, you may always have a look at the four other beds in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).
Now, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is noticeable from one side of the bed to the other. While this will be significant for all people, those who sleep with a partner may find it particularly interesting as it will show just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Latex Mattress
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it contains, as well as the pocketed coils which help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that movement from the opposite side of the bed will bother you, you should not have much concern with this hybrid. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
When getting a new mattress, most people would like to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
While you may encounter some immediate sinkage from the soft foam at the top, when you sink through those layers, you’ll find the pocketed coils and feel great support. This combination will appeal to a wide range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the Helix Midnight, the individually-wrapped coils prevent the mattress from collapsing a lot . I feel quite secure seated on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their recently updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfortable and secure. Partners who want more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Lying down, I feel like I can get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll fall over or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I think the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually include. Helix Sleep is no different. You create the mattress that’s meant for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it is sent to your door. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t what you wanted, you can return it for free, and receive a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. In fact, Helix Sleep does its best to locate a local place to donate it. When there is no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Latex Mattress
Helix Sleep offers an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it has limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you should be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the guarantee, and you need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you need to use a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress begins to have an indentation of 1 inch or longer, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleanup, it is suggested to use cold water along gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Make certain to wash using soft circular motions, rather than rubbing.
