Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Luxe Mattress Review
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Customers are urged to complete a survey that asks for their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other elements. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress options; each respective variant gives a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for side sleepers. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfortable on models with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 pounds or more often prefer the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both these variants have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with different tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier people. This mattress has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a wide assortment of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Luxe Mattress Review

Construction Helix Luxe Mattress Review
All 9 of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be rather similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness based on the foams utilized in order to attain more/less support and more/less firmness. The four different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the variants have all the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 different variants (and supposedly have a model for everyone). Helix Luxe Mattress Review
Underneath, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you would like something more lavish, you can choose to swap out the regular cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change material for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll find a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, meaning you’re likely to experience some great body shaping. Even though it may seem odd for a supposedly medium firm mattress to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it’s crucial to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you will uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress consists of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Because the coils are wrapped individually, they are also likely to allow extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will find a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix will differ widely depending on the version you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and thus very popular. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep is happy to oblige you with more options.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam layer is soft and generates some top quality body shaping, while the other materials in the mattress work to control this and make an overall firmer composition. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or those who want a firmer mattress, there are two more models for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Majority of side sleepers should feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you are needing a bit less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you may want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with all their weight on a tinier area. Those who are smaller than average or people in the market for lots of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers should feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this is not their primary position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.
Lastly, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers around 350 pounds or couples who weigh up to 250 lbs each. In the event you or your spouse are significantly larger than average, the company has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that’s constructed to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with differing body types or tastes can also pick a dual comfort model that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of these models feel quite right, you can always have a look at the four other variants in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant of the bunch).
Now, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be significant for many people, those who sleep with a partner may find it especially intriguing as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Luxe Mattress Review
According to my research, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the pocketed coils that help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that motion from the other side of the bed will wake you, you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
When buying a brand-new mattress, most people want to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
While you may experience some immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, when you sink through these layers, you are going to hit the pocketed coils and feel fantastic support. This combination will interest a vast range of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the foam compress as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the coils stop the mattress from compressing too much beyond that. I feel very secure seated on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their recently updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfortable and secure. Partners who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I could get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll fall off or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I believe the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically come with. Helix Sleep is not any different. You customize the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it’s sent to your door. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it for free of charge, and get a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. In fact, Helix does its best to find a local place to donate it. If there is no way the company can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Luxe Mattress Review
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you should be the first owner of the Helix to use the warranty, and you will need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to have a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4″ apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress begins to show an indentation of 1″ or longer, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleanup, it is suggested to use cold water with gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Make certain to wash using soft circular motions, rather than rubbing.
