Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses made using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores fortified using polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress 100 Day Trial
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Customers are requested to fill out a survey that asks for their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other factors. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress variants; each respective variant gives a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them optimal for side sleepers. While those with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel more comfy on variants with balanced support, while those who weigh 130 pounds or more often prefer the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them ideal for couples with different preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a wide variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Mattress 100 Day Trial

Construction Helix Mattress 100 Day Trial
All 9 of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be fairly similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density based upon the foams used in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The four different foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the models have all the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 unique versions (and hopefully have a model for everybody). Helix Mattress 100 Day Trial
Underneath, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you would like something more lavish, you can opt to swap out the standard cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change material for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll discover a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, meaning you’re probably going to experience some great body shaping. Even though it may seem strange for a purportedly medium firm mattress to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it’s important to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you’ll find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress is made up of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the structure, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Since the coils are individually wrapped, they are also likely to allow extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you will uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment does not really affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s talk about their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on which model you select. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be quite versatile and therefore best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to oblige you with more choices.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer is soft and produces some high quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials in the Midnight work to counteract this and create an overall firmer composition. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or people who prefer a firmer bed, there are two more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Many side sleepers should feel totally comfy on the Midnight, however, if you are wanting a bit less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you may decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with most of their weight on a tinier region. People who are lighter than average or those in the market for plenty of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their primary position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their back.
Last, the manufacturer recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 pounds or partners who weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. In the event you or your partner are significantly bigger than average, the company has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that is made to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with different types of bodies or preferences may also select a dual comfort variant that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of these options sound quite right, you could always have a look at the four other models in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant in the collection).
Now, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is detectable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this will be crucial for many sleepers, those who sleep with a spouse may find it especially interesting as it’ll show just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress 100 Day Trial
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it contains, as well as the pocketed coils that help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper concerned that motion from the opposite side of the bed will bother you, you should not have much concern with this hybrid. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
While getting a new mattress, most people want to know whether they will feel as though they are sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
While you may experience some immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to hit the pocketed coils and find great support. This combo will appeal to a vast range of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the Helix Midnight, the coils prevent the mattress from compressing too much beyond that. I feel quite secure seated on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their newly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There may be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfortable and safe. Partners who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I could get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll roll off or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I think that the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically include. Helix is no different. You customize the mattress that is made for you, place your order, and within two weeks, it is sent to your home. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not perfect, you can return it for free, and get a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. In fact, Helix finds a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Mattress 100 Day Trial
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it comes with limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Of course, you must be the first owner of the Helix to make use of the guarantee, and you need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to use a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress begins to show an indentation of 1 inch or more, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleaning, it’s advised to use cold water along gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Be sure that you clean using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.
