Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses made with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Australia
Helix Sleep offers complete mattress customization. Customers are urged to fill out a survey that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress models; each individual variant offers a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel more comfortable on models with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 lbs or more tend to prefer the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with differing preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier individuals. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a large variety of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Mattress Australia

Construction Helix Mattress Australia
All 9 of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be rather similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density depending upon the foams used in order to attain more/less support and more/less firmness. The four unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the mattresses have all of the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 unique mattresses (and hopefully have a model for everybody). Helix Mattress Australia
Below, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you want something more amped up, you can choose to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change fabric to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll find a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, which means you’re probably going to encounter some gratifying body contouring. While it might seem strange for a purportedly medium firm bed to make use of a memory foam comfort layer, it is important to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you will discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress is made up of this segment of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they are also going to allow additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you will discover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t really affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us talk about their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix will vary widely depending on which version you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and therefore exceptionally popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with additional options.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam layer is soft and produces some quality body shaping, while the other materials in the mattress work to control this and create an overall firmer composition. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or those who prefer a firmer mattress, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Many side sleepers will feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you are wanting a bit less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you may want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with most their weight on a tinier region. Those who are lighter than average or those looking for a lot of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this is not their main position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Finally, the manufacturer suggests Helix for sleepers up to 350 pounds or partners that weigh up to 250 pounds each. In the event you or your partner are substantially bigger than average, Helix has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that’s built to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with different types of bodies or preferences can also pick a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of these models feel right, you can always check out the 4 other models in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).
Now, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s detectable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this will be important for all buyers, those who doze with a partner may find it particularly interesting as it will illuminate just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress Australia
Based on my observation, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the pocketed coils that help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper concerned that motion from the opposite side of the mattress will wake you, then you should not have much concern with this hybrid. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
While purchasing a new mattress, the majority of people want to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you may experience some immediate sinkage from the soft foam at the top, when you sink through those layers, you will find the individually-wrapped coils and feel fantastic support. This combo will appeal to a vast range of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the bed, the individually-wrapped coils prevent the mattress from collapsing too much . I feel quite secured seated on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There can be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfortable and secure. Couples who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Laying down, I feel like I can get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll roll over or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I believe the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically include. Helix Mattress is not any different. You create the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and in a couple of weeks, it’s sent to your door. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it free of charge, and get a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. In fact, Helix finds a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Mattress Australia
Helix offers an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the mattress to use the guarantee, and you will need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to use a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix begins to show an indentation of 1″ or more, which is what usually happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleanup, it is suggested to use cold water along gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Make certain that you clean using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.
