Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified using polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Ben
Helix Sleep offers complete mattress customization. Buyers are requested to fill out a questionnaire that discusses their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress models; each individual option gives a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are suitable for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfortable on variants with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 pounds or more tend to prefer the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both these mattresses have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with differing tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier people. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a wide range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Mattress Ben

Construction Helix Mattress Ben
All 9 of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be rather similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness depending on the foams utilized in order to attain more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the mattresses have all of the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine distinct variants (and hopefully have a mattress for everybody). Helix Mattress Ben
Underneath, I quickly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some great breathability. However, if you want something more amped up, you can choose to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change fabric for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will encounter a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you are likely to encounter some satisfying body shaping. While it might seem odd for a supposedly medium firm mattress to make use of a memory foam layer, it’s important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you will uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress is made up of this section of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Because these coils are wrapped individually, they are also likely to encourage additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you’ll find a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This layer does not really affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on the model you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be very versatile and therefore best-selling. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with more options.
Laying down on the Midnight, the memory foam layer is soft and generates some quality body contouring, while the other materials in the mattress work to control this and make an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your back in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or those who prefer a firmer bed, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Most side sleepers will feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you are wanting a bit less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you might decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with most their weight on a smaller region. Those who are smaller than average or people looking for plenty of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their main position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their back.
Lastly, the manufacturer recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 pounds or partners who weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. If you or your partner are substantially bigger than average, Helix has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that’s built to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with different body types or preferences can also select a dual comfort option that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of these models feel right, you may always check out the four other mattresses in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).
Next up, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is detectable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be important for all buyers, those who doze with a partner may find it particularly intriguing as it will illuminate just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress Ben
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the individually wrapped coils which help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that movement from the other side of the bed will bother you, you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
While buying a new mattress, most people wish to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
While you are going to experience some immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through these layers, you are going to hit the individually-wrapped coils and feel great support. This combo will appeal to a wide assortment of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the mattress, the coils stop the mattress from collapsing too much . I feel very secure seated on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their freshly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There may be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfy and safe. Couples who need more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I could get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I will roll over or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I think that the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically come with. Helix Mattress is not any different. You create the mattress that’s meant for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it’s delivered to your home. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not ideal, you can return it free of charge, and get a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. Actually, the company does its best to locate a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Mattress Ben
Helix Sleep offers a generous 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most warranties). Of course, you should be the first owner of the mattress to make use of the guarantee, and you need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to have a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix starts to show an indentation of 1″ or longer, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleanup, it is advised to use cool water with gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Make sure that you wash using soft circular motions, instead of rubbing.
