Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses made using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Cover
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Customers are urged to fill out a survey that discusses their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress models; each individual model offers a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for side sleepers. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfortable on variants with balanced support, while people who weigh 130 pounds or more often favor the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both of these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them great for couples with differing preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a wide range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Mattress Cover

Construction Helix Mattress Cover
All nine of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be fairly similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density based on the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the beds have all the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 unique versions (and hopefully have a mattress for everybody). Helix Mattress Cover
Underneath, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you would like something more luxurious, you can elect to swap out the standard cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change material to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will encounter a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, meaning you’re likely to encounter some great body contouring. Even though it may seem odd for a supposedly medium firmness mattress to make use of a memory foam comfort layer, it is important to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you will uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the structure, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Because the coils are individually wrapped, they’re also going to encourage extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will find a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This segment does not affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us discuss their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on which version you pick out. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and thus very popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with more choices.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer feels soft and generates some quality body contouring, while the other materials within the Midnight work to counteract this and make an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or those who prefer a firmer bed, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Majority of side sleepers should feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you are wanting less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you may want to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with all their weight on a tinier region. Those who are smaller than average or those in the market for a lot of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers should feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their main position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their backbone.
Lastly, the manufacturer recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 lbs or couples that weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. In the event you or your spouse are significantly bigger than average, Helix has also created a bed called the Nightfall that is constructed to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with different body types or tastes can also select a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of these options sound quite right, you could always check out the 4 other variants in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option of the bunch).
Next up, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is noticeable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this will be crucial for many people, those who doze with a partner may find it particularly intriguing as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress Cover
Based on my observation, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the individually wrapped coils which help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper concerned that movement from the opposite side of the bed will bother you, you shouldn’t have much concern with this mattress. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
When buying a new mattress, most individuals want to know whether they will feel like they are sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you’re going to encounter some immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to find the pocketed coils and feel great support. This combo will appeal to a wide assortment of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit near the edge of the bed, the pocketed coils prevent the mattress from collapsing a lot beyond that. I feel quite secure seated on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfortable and safe. Partners who need more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Lying down, I feel like I can get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll fall over or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I think that the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically include. Helix Mattress is not any different. You create the mattress that’s meant for you, place your order, and within two weeks, it is sent to your door. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t what you wanted, you can return it for free, and get a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. Actually, Helix Sleep does its best to find a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Mattress Cover
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Of course, you should be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the guarantee, and you need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to use a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress starts to show an indentation of 1 inch or longer, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleaning, it is advised to use cold water with gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Make sure to wash using soft circular movements, rather than rubbing.
