Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores fortified with polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Durability
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Customers are requested to complete a survey that discusses their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other options. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress models; each individual model offers a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for side sleepers. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel more comfy on models with balanced support, while people who weigh 130 pounds or more often favor the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with different tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a wide assortment of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Mattress Durability

Construction Helix Mattress Durability
All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be rather similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density based upon the foams used in order to attain more/less firmness and more/less support. The four different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the models have all of the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine distinct versions (and supposedly have a model for everyone). Helix Mattress Durability
Below, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you would like something more amped up, you can elect to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change fabric to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will find a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, meaning you are likely to experience some great body contouring. While it might seem odd for a supposedly medium firm mattress to make use of a memory foam comfort layer, it is important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you will discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Since the coils are wrapped individually, they are also going to encourage additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you’ll discover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This segment doesn’t really affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on the version you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and thus exceptionally popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with additional options.
Laying down on the Midnight, the memory foam layer is soft and generates some top quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials within the Midnight work to control this and create an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s enough good comfort material in the Midnight to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or those who want a firmer bed, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Majority of side sleepers will feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you’re needing a bit less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you might decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with all their weight on a tinier area. People who are smaller than average or those looking for plenty of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers will feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their main position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their back.
Last, Helix Sleep suggests Helix for sleepers up to 350 pounds or partners that weigh up to 250 lbs each. In the event you or your partner are significantly larger than average, the company has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with differing body types or tastes may also select a dual comfort option that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of these models feel right, you could always have a look at the four other models in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).
Next up, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this will be important for all buyers, those who doze with a spouse may find it particularly intriguing as it will show just how bothered you may be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress Durability
Based on my observation, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the pocketed coils that help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper afraid that motion from the other side of the mattress will bother you, you shouldn’t have much concern with this mattress. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
When purchasing a brand-new mattress, the majority of people want to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
While you are likely to encounter some immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll find the pocketed coils and experience great support. This combination will interest a vast range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the foam compress as I sit near the edge of the bed, the coils prevent the mattress from compressing a lot . I feel quite secure seated on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfy and secure. Couples who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I could get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll fall over or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I think the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically include. Helix Sleep is not any different. You customize the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and in a couple of weeks, it is sent to your home. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it for free, and receive a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. Actually, the company does its best to find a local place to donate it. When there is no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Mattress Durability
Helix Sleep offers an amazing 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most warranties). Of course, you must be the first owner of the mattress to make use of the guarantee, and you need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to use a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress begins to have an indentation of 1″ or longer, which is what usually happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleanup, it’s advised to use cold water with gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Make certain to wash using soft circular motions, instead of rubbing.
