Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses made with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Edge Support
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Buyers are requested to complete a questionnaire that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress models; each respective model gives a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them optimal for side sleepers. While those with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel most comfy on models with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 pounds or more often favor the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them great for couples with differing tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier people. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a wide range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement well, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Mattress Edge Support

Construction Helix Mattress Edge Support
All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be quite similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness depending upon the foams utilized in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 unique foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the mattresses have all of the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 unique versions (and hopefully have a model for everybody). Helix Mattress Edge Support
Below, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you prefer something more amped up, you can choose to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change fabric for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll discover a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, which means you’re probably going to encounter some great body shaping. While it might seem strange for a purportedly medium firm bed to make use of a memory foam comfort layer, it’s important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you will discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Since the coils are individually wrapped, they are also likely to allow extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you will discover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This segment does not really affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness of the Helix will differ widely depending on the model you pick out. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and therefore exceptionally popular. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with additional choices.
Lying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer is soft and generates some quality body contouring, while the other materials in the Midnight work to control this and create an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is just enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For larger buyers or those who want a firmer bed, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Majority of side sleepers will feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, but, if you are wanting less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you might decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with most their weight on a smaller area. People who are lighter than average or those in the market for plenty of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers will feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their main position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their back.
Finally, Helix Sleep suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 lbs or partners that weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. In the event you or your spouse are substantially larger than average, the company has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that’s created to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with differing types of bodies or preferences may also pick a dual comfort option that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of those options feel quite right, you could always have a look at the 4 other variants in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant in the collection).
Now, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s detectable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be important for all people, those who doze with a spouse may find it especially intriguing as it’ll show just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress Edge Support
According to my research, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it contains, as well as the pocketed coils that help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper afraid that movement from the other side of the bed will bother you, you should not have much concern with this mattress. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
While buying a new mattress, the majority of men and women want to know whether they’ll feel like they are sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you may experience a little immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through these layers, you’ll find the pocketed coils and feel amazing support. This combination will appeal to a wide assortment of individuals, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the mattress, the pocketed coils prevent the mattress from collapsing too much beyond that. I feel very secure sitting on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their newly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfortable and safe. Partners who need more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I could get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I will roll off or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I think the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually come with. Helix Sleep is no different. You create the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and within two weeks, it is delivered to your door. From the moment you click to buy the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t what you wanted, you can return it for free, and get a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. Actually, Helix does its best to find a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Mattress Edge Support
Helix offers a generous 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it comes with limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Of course, you should be the original owner of the mattress to use the warranty, and you will need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to use a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4″ apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix begins to show an indentation of 1 inch or longer, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleanup, it’s suggested to use cold water with gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Be certain to wash using gentle circular movements, rather than rubbing.
