Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Faq
Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Buyers are urged to fill out a questionnaire that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress variants; each individual option offers a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While those that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are great for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel most comfy on models with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 lbs or more tend to prefer the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both of these models have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them suitable for couples with differing preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier people. This model has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a wide variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Mattress Faq

Construction Helix Mattress Faq
All 9 of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be quite similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness based on the foams used in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 different foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the mattresses have all of the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 different versions (and hopefully have a mattress for everyone). Helix Mattress Faq
Below, I briefly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. However, if you prefer something more amped up, you can elect to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change material to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will find a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you are likely to experience some great body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a purportedly medium firm mattress to make use of a memory foam layer, it’s important to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you’ll find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Since the coils are individually wrapped, they are also going to give additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will find a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This layer does not really affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us talk about their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness of the Helix will differ widely depending on the model you pick out. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which tends to be quite versatile and therefore exceptionally popular. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with more choices.
Lying down on the Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer is soft and produces some quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials within the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For larger buyers or people who prefer a firmer mattress, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Majority of side sleepers will feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you are wanting less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you may want to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with most of their weight on a tinier region. People who are smaller than average or people in the market for a lot of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers should feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this is not their main position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their backbone.
Lastly, the manufacturer suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 lbs or couples that weigh up to 250 lbs each. In the event you or your partner are significantly larger than average, Helix has also created a bed called the Nightfall that’s created to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with differing types of bodies or tastes may also select a dual comfort option that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of those options feel right, you may always have a look at the 4 other variants in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant of the bunch).
Now, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s noticeable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this will be important for all people, those who doze with a spouse may find it especially intriguing as it will illuminate just how bothered you may be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Based on my observation, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it contains, as well as the individually wrapped coils which help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that movement from the opposite side of the bed will bother you, you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
While buying a new mattress, most individuals wish to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
While you’re likely to experience some immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through these layers, you will reach the individually-wrapped coils and experience fantastic support. This combo will appeal to a vast range of individuals, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the foam compress as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the coils prevent the mattress from compressing a lot . I feel very secured seated on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their recently updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There can be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfy and safe. Partners who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Lying down, I feel like I can get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll roll over or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I believe that the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually come with. Helix Sleep is no different. You create the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and in a couple of weeks, it is delivered to your door. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it for free of charge, and get a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. Actually, Helix Sleep does its best to find a local place to donate it. If there’s no way the company can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Mattress Faq
The Helix Mattress includes an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it comes with limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you must be the first owner of the Helix to use the warranty, and you will need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you need to use a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4″ apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix starts to show an indentation of 1″ or longer, something that generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleanup, it’s advised to use cold water along gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Make certain to wash using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
