Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses manufactured with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Guarantee
Helix Sleep offers complete mattress customization. Buyers are requested to fill out a survey that asks for their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other factors. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress options; each respective variant provides a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for side sleepers. While those that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfortable on models with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 lbs or more often prefer the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets two mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both of these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them great for couples with differing preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier people. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a large assortment of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Mattress Guarantee

Construction Helix Mattress Guarantee
All 9 of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be rather similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density based on the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 unique foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the variants have all the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine distinct models (and hopefully have a model for everybody). Helix Mattress Guarantee
Below, I quickly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you would like something more amped up, you can opt to swap out the standard cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change material to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will encounter a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you’re probably going to encounter some gratifying body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a purportedly medium firmness bed to incorporate a memory foam layer, it’s crucial to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress is made up of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Since these coils are wrapped individually, they’re also likely to give extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you’ll find a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t really affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us discuss their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness of the Helix will vary widely depending on the variant you pick out. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be quite versatile and therefore best-selling. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with more options.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer feels soft and produces some top quality body shaping, while the other materials within the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer structure. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or those who want a firmer bed, there are two more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Many side sleepers will feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, however, if you are wanting less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you may want to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with most their weight on a tinier area. People who are lighter than average or people looking for a lot of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their primary position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.
Finally, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers around 350 pounds or couples who weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. In the event you or your spouse are substantially larger than average, Helix has also created a bed called the Nightfall that’s constructed to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with different body types or tastes can also select a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of those models seem quite right, you may always have a look at the four other models in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant in the collection).
Now, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is noticeable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this will be significant for all people, those who doze with a spouse may find it particularly intriguing as it will illuminate just how bothered you may be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress Guarantee
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the pocketed coils which help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper afraid that movement from the opposite side of the bed will bother you, you shouldn’t have much concern with this hybrid. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
While purchasing a brand-new mattress, the majority of people want to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you may encounter a little immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through those layers, you’ll reach the pocketed coils and experience amazing support. This combo will appeal to a vast range of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the Helix Midnight, the coils stop the mattress from compressing a lot . I feel very secured sitting on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their newly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There may be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfy and secure. Couples who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I could get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll fall over or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I believe the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically come with. Helix Sleep is not any different. You create the mattress that’s meant for you, place your order, and in two weeks, it’s delivered to your home. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not perfect, you can return it free of charge, and get a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. In fact, the company does its best to find a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Mattress Guarantee
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Of course, you should be the original owner of the Helix to use the warranty, and you need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to use a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4″ apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress starts to show an indentation of 1″ or more, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleaning, it is suggested to use cold water with gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Make certain that you wash using soft circular movements, rather than rubbing.
