Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress King

Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Buyers are urged to fill out a questionnaire that discusses their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other elements. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress variants; each individual variant provides a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:

  • Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
  • Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
  • Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support

Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While those with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfy on models with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 pounds or more tend to favor the models with additional support.

Helix Sleep also offers 2 variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both these mattresses have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them great for couples with differing tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier individuals. This model has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.

My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a wide range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Mattress King

Construction Helix Mattress King

All nine of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be fairly similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.

Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density based upon the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The four different foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the variants have all of the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine unique versions (and supposedly have a mattress for everybody). Helix Mattress King

Below, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.

helix-midnight-construction

Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you would like something more amped up, you can choose to swap out the standard cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change fabric for heat regulation.

Comfort Layer – Up top, you will discover a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, meaning you’re likely to encounter some great body contouring. Even though it may seem odd for a purportedly medium firmness mattress to feature a memory foam layer, it’s important to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it gives quite a firm feeling.

Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you will find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the individually wrapped coils underneath.

Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this segment of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Since the coils are individually wrapped, they’re also likely to encourage additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.

Base Layer – Lastly, you’ll find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to react.

Firmness and Support

After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their different feels and firmness levels.

helix-mattress-firmness-and-support-scale

The firmness level of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on which variant you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and thus best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with additional choices.

Lying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer feels soft and generates some quality body contouring, while the other materials within the Midnight work to counteract this and make an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also help with re-positioning.

For those who sleep on their back, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your back in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or people who want a firmer bed, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.

Most side sleepers will feel totally comfy on the Midnight, but, if you’re needing a bit less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you might decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.

Side sleepers typically have to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with all of their weight on a tinier region. People who are lighter than average or those in the market for a lot of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher models.

Stomach sleepers should feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their main position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their back.

Lastly, the manufacturer suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 pounds or couples who weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. In the event you or your partner are substantially bigger than average, Helix has also created a bed called the Nightfall that is constructed to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.

Partners with differing body types or preferences may also select a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.

Keep in mind that if none of these models sound right, you can always have a look at the four other mattresses in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option of the bunch).

Motion Transfer

Now, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is detectable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be significant for many buyers, those who sleep with a partner may find it particularly intriguing as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you may be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress King

Based on my observation, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the individually wrapped coils that help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that movement from the other side of the mattress will wake you, then you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.

Sinkage

While purchasing a new mattress, the majority of men and women wish to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.

Even though you may encounter some immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to hit the pocketed coils and find fantastic support. This combination will appeal to a wide range of sleepers, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers the most.

Edge Support

Though I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from compressing a lot beyond that. I feel quite secure sitting on the mattress.

In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There can be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfy and safe. Couples who want more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.

Lying down, I feel like I could get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll fall off or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I believe that the Helix has nice edge support.

100 Night Sleep Trial

Among the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically include. Helix is not any different. You create the mattress that’s meant for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it is delivered to your door. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not ideal, you can return it free, and get a full refund.

If you do return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. Actually, the company does its best to find a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Mattress King

Helix Warranty

The Helix Mattress includes an amazing 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it has some limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most guarantees ). Of course, you must be the original owner of the mattress to use the guarantee, and you need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.

As long as you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to have a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4″ apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!

If your mattress begins to show an indentation of 1″ or longer, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?

Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.

For routine cleanup, it is suggested to use cool water along gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Make certain that you clean using gentle circular movements, rather than rubbing.
