Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses manufactured with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress New York
Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Buyers are asked to fill out a survey that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress variants; each individual option gives a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfy on models with balanced support, while people who weigh 130 pounds or more often favor the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both these models have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them great for couples with different tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier people. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a wide variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Mattress New York

Construction Helix Mattress New York
All 9 of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be rather similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness based upon the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The four unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the models have all of the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine unique versions (and hopefully have a model for everyone). Helix Mattress New York
Below, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you prefer something more amped up, you can elect to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change fabric to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll encounter a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, meaning you’re probably going to encounter some great body contouring. Even though it may seem odd for a purportedly medium firmness bed to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it’s crucial to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it gives quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you will find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress consists of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the structure, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Because the coils are individually wrapped, they are also likely to allow additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you will uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer does not really affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s talk about their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on which model you pick out. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and therefore best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with more options.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam layer feels soft and generates some quality body contouring, while the other materials in the Midnight work to counteract this and make an overall firmer composition. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is just enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lumbar while supporting your back in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or those who want a firmer mattress, there are two more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Most side sleepers should feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you might decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with most of their weight on a tinier area. Those who are lighter than average or those in the market for plenty of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers will feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their main position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their back.
Last, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers around 350 lbs or partners that weigh up to 250 pounds each. If you or your spouse are substantially larger than average, Helix has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that is made to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with different types of bodies or tastes may also select a dual comfort variant that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of those options feel quite right, you can always have a look at the four other models in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option of the bunch).
Next up, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s noticeable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be important for all sleepers, those who doze with a spouse may find it particularly interesting as it’ll show just how bothered you may be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress New York
According to my research, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it contains, as well as the individually wrapped coils that help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper concerned that movement from the opposite side of the mattress will wake you, then you should not have much concern with this hybrid. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
While buying a new mattress, most individuals want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you’re likely to encounter a little immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, when you sink through these layers, you are going to reach the individually-wrapped coils and experience great support. This combination will appeal to a wide range of individuals, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the bed, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot beyond that. I feel very secure seated on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There may be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfy and safe. Couples who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Lying down, I feel like I can get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will roll off or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I think that the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually come with. Helix Sleep is not any different. You customize the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it’s delivered to your home. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it for free, and get a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. Actually, the company does its best to locate a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Mattress New York
Helix offers an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it comes with some limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most warranties). Needless to say, you should be the original owner of the mattress to use the warranty, and you need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you will need to have a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4″ apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress starts to have an indentation of 1″ or more, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleaning, it is advised to use cool water along gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Be certain that you wash using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.
