Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Organic
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Buyers are requested to complete a questionnaire that asks for their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other options. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress variants; each individual variant gives a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them optimal for side sleepers. While mattresses with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfortable on models with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 lbs or more often favor the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets two mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both these models have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them suitable for couples with different tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier individuals. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a wide assortment of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Mattress Organic

Construction Helix Mattress Organic
All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be rather similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density based upon the foams used in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the beds have all the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine unique variants (and supposedly have a model for everybody). Helix Mattress Organic
Underneath, I quickly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you want something more luxurious, you can opt to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change material for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will discover a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you’re probably going to encounter some gratifying body contouring. While it might seem strange for a supposedly medium firmness mattress to feature a memory foam layer, it is important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this segment of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Since these coils are wrapped individually, they’re also likely to give additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you’ll find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment doesn’t affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix will differ widely depending on the model you pick out. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which is going to be very versatile and therefore best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with more options.
Laying down on the Midnight, the memory foam layer feels soft and generates some quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials in the mattress work to counteract this and create an overall firmer structure. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your back in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or those who want a firmer mattress, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Many side sleepers will feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you are wanting a bit less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you might decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with most their weight on a smaller area. Those who are smaller than average or those in the market for plenty of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers will feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this is not their primary position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their backbone.
Finally, Helix Sleep suggests Helix for sleepers around 350 lbs or partners that weigh up to 250 lbs each. In the event you or your partner are significantly larger than average, the company has also created a bed called the Nightfall that’s created to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with different body types or preferences can also select a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of these options seem right, you can always have a look at the four other variants in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option in the collection).
Now, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s detectable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this will be significant for many people, those who doze with a partner may find it particularly interesting as it’ll show just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress Organic
Based on my observation, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the pocketed coils that help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper worried that motion from the other side of the mattress will bother you, you should not have much concern with this hybrid. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
While getting a new mattress, the majority of men and women want to know whether they’ll feel as though they’re sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you are going to experience some immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through those layers, you will find the individually-wrapped coils and feel great support. This combination will appeal to a vast range of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the bed, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot . I feel quite secured seated on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their newly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There may be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfortable and safe. Couples who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Lying down, I feel like I could get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll fall over or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I think that the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually include. Helix is no different. You customize the mattress that’s meant for you, place your order, and in a couple of weeks, it is sent to your door. From the moment you click to buy the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it for free, and get a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. In fact, Helix does its best to locate a local place to donate it. If there’s no way the company can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Mattress Organic
The Helix Mattress includes an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most warranties). Of course, you must be the original owner of the Helix to use the warranty, and you will need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you will need to use a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress starts to have an indentation of 1″ or more, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleanup, it’s suggested to use cool water with gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Make certain that you wash using soft circular movements, instead of rubbing.
