Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses manufactured using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Questionnaire
Helix Sleep allows complete mattress customization. Buyers are urged to complete a survey that discusses their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other elements. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress variants; each individual option gives a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While those that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are great for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfortable on variants with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 pounds or more often prefer the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both of these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with differing tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier people. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a large assortment of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Mattress Questionnaire

Construction Helix Mattress Questionnaire
All nine of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be fairly similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density based upon the foams used in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The four different foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the models have all of the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 unique variants (and hopefully have a model for everybody). Helix Mattress Questionnaire
Below, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. However, if you prefer something more lavish, you can choose to swap out the regular cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change fabric for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will encounter a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, meaning you are probably going to encounter some satisfying body contouring. While it might seem odd for a purportedly medium firmness mattress to make use of a memory foam comfort layer, it is crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it gives quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you’ll find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Since the coils are wrapped individually, they are also likely to allow extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you’ll find a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section does not affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s talk about their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on which version you pick out. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be quite versatile and thus very popular. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to oblige you with additional options.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam layer feels soft and generates some top quality body contouring, while the other materials in the mattress work to control this and create an overall firmer structure. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or people who want a firmer mattress, there are two more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Many side sleepers will feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, however, if you are needing less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you might want to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with most of their weight on a tinier area. People who are lighter than average or people looking for plenty of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this is not their primary position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.
Last, Helix Sleep suggests Helix for sleepers around 350 pounds or couples who weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. In the event you or your partner are significantly bigger than average, Helix has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with differing body types or tastes can also select a dual comfort variant that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of these options feel quite right, you could always have a look at the four other mattresses in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant in the collection).
Next up, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is noticeable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this will be significant for many people, those who doze with a partner may find it especially interesting as it’ll show just how bothered you may be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress Questionnaire
Based on my observation, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it contains, as well as the individually wrapped coils that help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that movement from the other side of the bed will bother you, then you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
While buying a brand-new mattress, the majority of people want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you may experience a little immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through these layers, you are going to reach the individually-wrapped coils and experience amazing support. This combination will interest a wide range of individuals, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot beyond that. I feel quite secured sitting on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their freshly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfortable and secure. Partners who need more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Lying down, I feel like I can get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will roll off or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I think that the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically come with. Helix is not any different. You customize the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it’s sent to your door. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it free of charge, and receive a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. Actually, Helix Sleep does its best to find a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Mattress Questionnaire
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it has limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most guarantees ). Of course, you must be the first owner of the mattress to make use of the guarantee, and you need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you will need to have a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4″ apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1 inch or more, which is what usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleaning, it is advised to use cold water along gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Be sure that you wash using gentle circular motions, rather than rubbing.
