Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified using polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Return
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Buyers are urged to fill out a survey that discusses their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other factors. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress variants; each respective option provides a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for side sleepers. While those that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfortable on models with balanced support, while those who weigh 130 pounds or more often favor the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both of these models have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them great for couples with differing tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier people. This model has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a wide variety of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Mattress Return

Construction Helix Mattress Return
All 9 of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be fairly similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density based on the foams used in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 different foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the beds have all the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine different mattresses (and hopefully have a model for everybody). Helix Mattress Return
Underneath, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you prefer something more lavish, you can elect to swap out the normal cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change material to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will encounter a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, which means you’re probably going to encounter some great body shaping. While it might seem odd for a supposedly medium firmness mattress to feature a memory foam layer, it is important to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you will uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this section of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Because these coils are individually wrapped, they are also going to give extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you’ll discover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s talk about their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix will differ widely depending on the model you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be very versatile and therefore very popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to oblige you with additional choices.
Laying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer feels soft and generates some high quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials within the Midnight work to counteract this and create an overall firmer composition. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or those who prefer a firmer mattress, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Many side sleepers should feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you are needing less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you may want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with all of their weight on a smaller area. People who are smaller than average or people in the market for lots of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers should feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this is not their main position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.
Finally, the manufacturer suggests Helix for sleepers around 350 lbs or couples who weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. If you or your spouse are significantly bigger than average, the company has also created a bed called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with differing types of bodies or preferences can also pick a dual comfort option that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of those options seem right, you may always check out the 4 other mattresses in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the line).
Next up, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is noticeable from one side of the bed to the other. While this will be significant for many sleepers, those who sleep with a partner may find it particularly interesting as it will show just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress Return
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it contains, as well as the pocketed coils which help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that movement from the other side of the mattress will wake you, you should not have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
While purchasing a new mattress, most people wish to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
While you may experience a little immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through those layers, you will reach the pocketed coils and experience amazing support. This combination will appeal to a wide range of sleepers, but will suit stomach and back sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the individually-wrapped coils prevent the mattress from compressing a lot beyond that. I feel quite secured seated on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their freshly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There may be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfortable and safe. Couples who need more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Laying down, I feel like I could get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll roll over or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I believe the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically include. Helix Mattress is not any different. You create the mattress that is made for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it is sent to your door. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it for free of charge, and receive a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. In fact, Helix Sleep finds a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Mattress Return
Helix offers an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the mattress to use the guarantee, and you need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to have a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1″ or more, something that generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleaning, it is suggested to use cool water with gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Be certain that you clean using gentle circular movements, rather than rubbing.
