Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses made with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores fortified with polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Soft
Helix Sleep allows full mattress customization. Purchasers are requested to fill out a questionnaire that asks for their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress models; each respective variant provides a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for side sleepers. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfy on models with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 lbs or more often prefer the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both of these variants have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them great for couples with differing tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier people. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a wide variety of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Mattress Soft

Construction Helix Mattress Soft
All nine of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be fairly similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density based upon the foams used in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the beds have all of the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 different versions (and supposedly have a model for everybody). Helix Mattress Soft
Below, I briefly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you want something more amped up, you can opt to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change fabric to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will find a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, meaning you’re probably going to encounter some great body shaping. Even though it may seem odd for a purportedly medium firmness bed to make use of a memory foam comfort layer, it is crucial to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it gives quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you will discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress consists of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Because the coils are individually wrapped, they’re also going to allow additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you’ll uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t really affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness of the Helix will vary widely depending on which model you select. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which is going to be very versatile and thus best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with additional choices.
Laying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam layer feels soft and produces some quality body shaping, while the other materials within the mattress work to counteract this and create an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or people who prefer a firmer bed, there are two more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Many side sleepers will feel totally comfy on the Midnight, however, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you may decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with most of their weight on a smaller area. Those who are lighter than average or those looking for lots of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their main position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.
Lastly, Helix Sleep suggests Helix for sleepers around 350 pounds or partners that weigh up to 250 pounds each. In the event you or your spouse are significantly bigger than average, Helix has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that is made to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with differing types of bodies or preferences can also select a dual comfort model that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of these models feel right, you can always have a look at the four other variants in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).
Now, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s noticeable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this will be crucial for many people, those who doze with a spouse may find it especially interesting as it will show just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress Soft
Based on my observation, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the individually wrapped coils which help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper concerned that motion from the other side of the bed will bother you, you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this mattress. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
When buying a brand-new mattress, most men and women wish to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you’re going to encounter some immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to find the individually-wrapped coils and find great support. This combo will appeal to a vast assortment of individuals, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the mattress, the pocketed coils prevent the mattress from compressing too much . I feel quite secured sitting on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There can be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfy and secure. Couples who want more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I could get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I will roll over or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I believe the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually include. Helix Mattress is not any different. You customize the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and within two weeks, it is sent to your home. From the minute you click to buy the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it free, and receive a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. In fact, Helix Sleep finds a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Mattress Soft
Helix Sleep offers a generous 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you should be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the warranty, and you will need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to have a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4″ apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress starts to have an indentation of 1″ or longer, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleanup, it’s suggested to use cold water with gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Make sure that you wash using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
