Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified using polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Startup
Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Buyers are urged to fill out a questionnaire that asks for their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other elements. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress variants; each individual variant offers a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them optimal for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel most comfortable on models with balanced support, while those who weigh 130 lbs or more often favor the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them suitable for couples with different tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier individuals. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a wide assortment of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Mattress Startup

Construction Helix Mattress Startup
All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be quite similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density depending on the foams used in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The four different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the variants have all of the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 distinct models (and hopefully have a mattress for everybody). Helix Mattress Startup
Underneath, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you prefer something more amped up, you can opt to swap out the normal cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change fabric to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll discover a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, meaning you’re probably going to encounter some gratifying body contouring. Even though it may seem odd for a purportedly medium firm mattress to make use of a memory foam layer, it is crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it gives quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and create a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this section of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Since these coils are wrapped individually, they’re also going to give extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you will uncover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This segment does not really affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us discuss their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on which variant you pick out. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and therefore exceptionally popular. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with additional options.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam layer feels soft and generates some quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials in the Midnight work to control this and make an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s enough good comfort material in the Helix Midnight to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or those who prefer a firmer mattress, there are two more models for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Most side sleepers should feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you’re wanting less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you may decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with most of their weight on a tinier region. People who are lighter than average or those in the market for a lot of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers should feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their primary position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their backbone.
Finally, the manufacturer recommends Helix for sleepers around 350 lbs or couples who weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. In the event you or your partner are significantly bigger than average, Helix has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that is made to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with different types of bodies or preferences may also select a dual comfort option that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of those options seem quite right, you may always have a look at the 4 other variants in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant of the bunch).
Next up, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s noticeable from one side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be crucial for all people, those who sleep with a partner may find it especially interesting as it will show just how bothered you’ll be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress Startup
Based on my observation, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the pocketed coils which help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper concerned that motion from the opposite side of the bed will bother you, you should not have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
When purchasing a brand-new mattress, the majority of men and women wish to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you’re likely to experience a little immediate sinkage from the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to find the pocketed coils and find great support. This combo will appeal to a wide range of sleepers, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers the most.
While I do feel the foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the pocketed coils prevent the mattress from collapsing a lot . I feel very secured sitting on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their newly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfortable and safe. Partners who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Laying down, I feel like I could get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I will roll off or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I believe the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically include. Helix Sleep is not any different. You create the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it is delivered to your door. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it free of charge, and receive a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. In fact, Helix finds a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Mattress Startup
Helix Sleep offers an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the Helix to use the guarantee, and you will need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you will need to have a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress begins to show an indentation of 1 inch or more, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleanup, it’s suggested to use cool water with gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Be certain to clean using soft circular movements, instead of rubbing.
