Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses made with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Store Locations
Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Purchasers are requested to fill out a survey that discusses their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress models; each individual model gives a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While those that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfortable on models with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 pounds or more often favor the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both these models have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them suitable for couples with differing tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier people. This model has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a large range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Mattress Store Locations

Construction Helix Mattress Store Locations
All 9 of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be quite similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density depending on the foams used in order to attain more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the variants have all of the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine distinct versions (and hopefully have a mattress for everyone). Helix Mattress Store Locations
Underneath, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some wonderful breathability. However, if you would like something more luxurious, you can opt to swap out the normal cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change fabric for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will find a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you’re likely to experience some great body shaping. While it might seem strange for a supposedly medium firmness bed to incorporate a memory foam layer, it is important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it gives quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this segment of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Because these coils are wrapped individually, they’re also going to give extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you will find a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us talk about their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness of the Helix will differ widely depending on which model you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and therefore exceptionally popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with additional options.
Laying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer feels soft and generates some quality body contouring, while the other materials in the mattress work to control this and make an overall firmer composition. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is enough good comfort material in the Midnight to conform to your lower spine while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or those who want a firmer bed, there are two more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Many side sleepers will feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, but, if you’re wanting less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you might decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with all their weight on a tinier area. Those who are lighter than average or people looking for plenty of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers should feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their main position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.
Finally, Helix Sleep recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 pounds or couples that weigh up to 250 lbs each. In the event you or your spouse are substantially larger than average, the company has also created a bed called the Nightfall that is made to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with differing types of bodies or preferences may also select a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of these models feel right, you can always have a look at the 4 other variants in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant in the collection).
Now, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s noticeable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be significant for many people, those who sleep with a spouse may find it particularly interesting as it’ll show just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the individually wrapped coils that help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that motion from the other side of the bed will wake you, you should not have much concern with this mattress. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
While buying a brand-new mattress, most individuals wish to know whether they will feel like they are sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you’re going to encounter some immediate sinkage from the soft foam at the top, when you sink through these layers, you are going to find the individually-wrapped coils and feel amazing support. This combo will interest a vast range of individuals, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.
While I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit near the edge of the bed, the individually-wrapped coils prevent the mattress from collapsing too much . I feel very secured seated on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their newly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There may be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfy and secure. Couples who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I could get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll roll off or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I believe the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically come with. Helix Mattress is no different. You create the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and within two weeks, it’s sent to your door. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t what you wanted, you can return it free, and get a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. Actually, the company finds a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Mattress Store Locations
The Helix Mattress includes an amazing 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it has limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most warranties). Needless to say, you must be the first owner of the mattress to use the guarantee, and you will need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to use a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4″ apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1 inch or longer, which is what usually happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleaning, it’s suggested to use cold water along gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Be certain that you wash using soft circular movements, instead of rubbing.
