Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Topper
Helix Sleep allows full mattress customization. Buyers are urged to complete a questionnaire that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress variants; each respective variant gives a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them optimal for side sleepers. While mattresses with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfortable on models with balanced support, while people who weigh 130 pounds or more tend to favor the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers two mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both these models have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with differing tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a wide assortment of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Mattress Topper

Construction Helix Mattress Topper
All 9 of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be fairly similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness based upon the foams utilized in order to get more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the mattresses have all the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 distinct models (and hopefully have a mattress for everybody). Helix Mattress Topper
Underneath, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you want something more amped up, you can choose to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change material for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll discover a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you’re likely to encounter some gratifying body shaping. While it might seem strange for a supposedly medium firmness mattress to make use of a memory foam comfort layer, it is important to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Because these coils are individually wrapped, they are also going to encourage additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you will find a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t really affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on the variant you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be very versatile and thus best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep is happy to oblige you with more options.
Lying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam layer feels soft and produces some top quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials within the Midnight work to control this and make an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is just enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or those who prefer a firmer bed, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Majority of side sleepers should feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you are needing less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you may decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with all of their weight on a smaller area. People who are smaller than average or those in the market for a lot of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers will feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their primary position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.
Last, the manufacturer recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 pounds or couples who weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. If you or your spouse are significantly larger than average, Helix has also created a bed called the Nightfall that’s constructed to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with differing types of bodies or preferences may also pick a dual comfort option that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of those options seem quite right, you may always have a look at the 4 other models in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the line).
Now, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is noticeable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be significant for all people, those who doze with a spouse may find it especially interesting as it will illuminate just how bothered you may be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress Topper
According to my research, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it contains, as well as the individually wrapped coils which help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that movement from the opposite side of the mattress will wake you, then you should not have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
When getting a new mattress, the majority of men and women wish to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
While you may experience a little immediate sinkage from the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll reach the individually-wrapped coils and feel amazing support. This combo will appeal to a wide range of individuals, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers the most.
While I do feel the foam compress as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the individually-wrapped coils prevent the mattress from collapsing a lot beyond that. I feel very secure sitting on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their recently updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfortable and safe. Partners who want more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I can get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will fall over or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I believe that the Helix mattress has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically include. Helix Sleep is no different. You create the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it is delivered to your home. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it free of charge, and get a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. Actually, Helix does its best to locate a local place to donate it. If there’s no way the company can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Mattress Topper
The Helix Mattress includes an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it comes with limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you must be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the guarantee, and you need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you need to use a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix starts to have an indentation of 1 inch or longer, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleanup, it is suggested to use cold water with gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Be sure that you clean using gentle circular movements, instead of rubbing.
Final Thoughts Helix Mattress Topper
