Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress User Reviews
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Buyers are requested to complete a survey that discusses their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress variants; each individual variant gives a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfy on variants with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 pounds or more often prefer the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both of these models have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with differing tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a wide range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Mattress User Reviews

Construction Helix Mattress User Reviews
All nine of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be rather similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density depending upon the foams used in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The four unique foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the variants have all of the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 different mattresses (and hopefully have a mattress for everyone). Helix Mattress User Reviews
Below, I quickly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. However, if you would like something more luxurious, you can choose to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change fabric to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will encounter a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, meaning you are probably going to experience some great body shaping. While it might seem strange for a supposedly medium firmness bed to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it is crucial to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it produces quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress consists of this segment of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Since the coils are individually wrapped, they are also going to give additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you will uncover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix will differ widely depending on which version you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which tends to be quite versatile and therefore best-selling. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with additional choices.
Lying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam layer feels soft and generates some high quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials within the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer structure. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s just enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lower spine while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or those who want a firmer bed, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Majority of side sleepers should feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you’re wanting less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you may want to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with all their weight on a tinier region. Those who are smaller than average or people in the market for lots of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this is not their main position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.
Finally, Helix Sleep recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 lbs or partners who weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. If you or your partner are significantly larger than average, the company has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that is created to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with different body types or tastes may also pick a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of these options feel quite right, you may always check out the 4 other variants in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the collection).
Next up, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s noticeable from one side of the bed to the other. While this will be important for many people, those who doze with a partner may find it especially interesting as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you’ll be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress User Reviews
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the pocketed coils which help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper worried that movement from the opposite side of the mattress will bother you, you shouldn’t have much concern with this hybrid. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
While buying a new mattress, the majority of men and women would like to know whether they’ll feel like they are sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you’re going to experience some immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through these layers, you’ll reach the individually-wrapped coils and feel great support. This combination will interest a vast assortment of individuals, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the bed, the coils stop the mattress from compressing too much beyond that. I feel very secure sitting on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfortable and secure. Couples who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Laying down, I feel like I could get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll fall off or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I think that the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually come with. Helix is no different. You create the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it is sent to your home. From the moment you click to buy the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t ideal, you can return it for free, and receive a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. In fact, Helix Sleep does its best to find a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Mattress User Reviews
Helix offers an amazing 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it comes with some limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you must be the first owner of the mattress to use the guarantee, and you will need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to have a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress begins to have an indentation of 1 inch or more, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleaning, it’s advised to use cool water along gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Be sure that you wash using gentle circular movements, instead of rubbing.
