Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Mattress Weight
Helix Sleep allows full mattress customization. Customers are requested to fill out a survey that discusses their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress variants; each individual option provides a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for side sleepers. While mattresses with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfy on variants with balanced support, while people who weigh 130 lbs or more tend to favor the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both of these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them great for couples with different preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier people. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a wide variety of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate movement well, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Mattress Weight

Construction Helix Mattress Weight
All 9 of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be fairly similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness depending on the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the models have all of the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 distinct mattresses (and hopefully have a model for everyone). Helix Mattress Weight
Below, I quickly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you want something more amped up, you can elect to swap out the regular cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change material for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll encounter a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you are likely to encounter some great body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a supposedly medium firmness mattress to make use of a memory foam layer, it is important to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it generates quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Because these coils are individually wrapped, they are also going to encourage additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you’ll uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness of the Helix will vary widely depending on which model you select. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and therefore best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with more options.
Lying down on the Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer feels soft and generates some high quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials within the mattress work to control this and create an overall firmer composition. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is just enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lower spine while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or people who want a firmer mattress, there are two more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Most side sleepers should feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, but, if you are wanting less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you may want to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with all of their weight on a tinier area. Those who are lighter than average or people in the market for a lot of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers should feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this is not their main position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.
Lastly, the manufacturer recommends Helix for sleepers up to 350 pounds or partners that weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. If you or your partner are substantially bigger than average, Helix has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that is created to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with differing types of bodies or tastes may also pick a dual comfort variant that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of these models seem quite right, you can always have a look at the four other models in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the line).
Next up, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s noticeable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this will be crucial for all sleepers, those who doze with a spouse may find it particularly intriguing as it’ll show just how bothered you’ll be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Mattress Weight
Based on my observation, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the individually wrapped coils which help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper afraid that motion from the other side of the bed will wake you, you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
When getting a new mattress, the majority of men and women would like to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
While you may experience some immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through these layers, you will reach the individually-wrapped coils and experience amazing support. This combination will interest a wide assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the mattress, the coils prevent the mattress from collapsing too much beyond that. I feel very secured sitting on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their freshly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfy and safe. Partners who want more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I can get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I will roll over or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I believe the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually come with. Helix Sleep is not any different. You customize the mattress that’s meant for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it’s delivered to your home. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it free of charge, and receive a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. Actually, Helix finds a local place to donate it. When there’s no way the company can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Mattress Weight
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it has limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most warranties). Of course, you should be the first owner of the mattress to use the warranty, and you will need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to use a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress begins to show an indentation of 1 inch or longer, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleanup, it’s advised to use cold water along gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Be sure that you wash using gentle circular movements, instead of rubbing.
