Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Sleep Canada
Helix Sleep allows complete mattress customization. Purchasers are asked to fill out a survey that discusses their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other factors. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress models; each respective option offers a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them optimal for side sleepers. While hybrids with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel more comfy on models with balanced support, while people that weigh 130 pounds or more tend to favor the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them ideal for couples with differing tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a large assortment of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate movement well, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Sleep Canada

Construction Helix Sleep Canada
All nine of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be rather similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness depending upon the foams utilized in order to attain more/less firmness and more/less support. The four unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the mattresses have all the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 unique versions (and supposedly have a mattress for everybody). Helix Sleep Canada
Underneath, I quickly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you prefer something more luxurious, you can choose to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change material to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will find a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you’re probably going to experience some gratifying body contouring. While it might seem strange for a purportedly medium firmness bed to incorporate a memory foam layer, it’s crucial to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it gives quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you’ll find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress consists of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since the coils are individually wrapped, they are also going to allow extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you’ll find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t really affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on the version you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and therefore best-selling. If you have more specific preferences, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to oblige you with additional options.
Laying down on the Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer is soft and generates some high quality body contouring, while the other materials in the Midnight work to counteract this and make an overall firmer composition. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or those who want a firmer mattress, there are two more models for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Many side sleepers will feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, but, if you’re wanting less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you may decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with all their weight on a smaller region. Those who are lighter than average or people in the market for plenty of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers should feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their primary position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their back.
Finally, Helix Sleep recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 pounds or couples that weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. In the event you or your partner are significantly larger than average, the company has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with different types of bodies or tastes may also select a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of these models feel quite right, you may always check out the 4 other mattresses in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option in the line).
Now, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is detectable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this will be important for all sleepers, those who sleep with a partner may find it particularly interesting as it’ll show just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Sleep Canada
Based on my observation, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the individually wrapped coils that help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper concerned that motion from the other side of the mattress will wake you, you shouldn’t have much concern with this mattress. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
When buying a new mattress, the majority of individuals wish to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you’re likely to encounter some immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through those layers, you will reach the individually-wrapped coils and experience amazing support. This combination will interest a vast range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from compressing too much . I feel very secure sitting on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their recently updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There can be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfortable and secure. Partners who want more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I can get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will roll over or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I believe that the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually come with. Helix Sleep is not any different. You create the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and within two weeks, it’s delivered to your home. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not perfect, you can return it for free of charge, and receive a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. In fact, Helix does its best to find a local place to donate it. When there’s no way the company can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Sleep Canada
Helix Sleep offers an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it comes with limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Of course, you should be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the guarantee, and you will need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you will need to have a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4″ apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress begins to show an indentation of 1 inch or more, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleaning, it’s suggested to use cold water along gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Make certain that you wash using soft circular movements, rather than rubbing.
