Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores fortified with polyfoam base layers. Helix Sleep Careers
Helix Sleep allows complete mattress customization. Purchasers are urged to complete a questionnaire that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress variants; each respective model gives a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfy on models with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 lbs or more tend to favor the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers two mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both of these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them ideal for couples with different tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a large assortment of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Sleep Careers

Construction Helix Sleep Careers
All 9 of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be rather similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness depending on the foams used in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the mattresses have all the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine different mattresses (and supposedly have a model for everyone). Helix Sleep Careers
Below, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some great breathability. However, if you prefer something more amped up, you can opt to swap out the standard cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change fabric for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll find a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, meaning you are probably going to encounter some satisfying body shaping. While it might seem odd for a purportedly medium firmness mattress to make use of a memory foam comfort layer, it is crucial to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it generates quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you’ll find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress consists of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since the coils are wrapped individually, they’re also likely to allow extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will find a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix will vary widely depending on which model you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and therefore best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with additional choices.
Laying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam layer is soft and produces some top quality body shaping, while the other materials in the mattress work to control this and create an overall firmer composition. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s just enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or those who prefer a firmer bed, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Majority of side sleepers should feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you are needing a bit less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you may decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with all of their weight on a smaller area. People who are smaller than average or people looking for lots of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers should feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this is not their primary position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their back.
Finally, the manufacturer recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 lbs or couples who weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. If you or your spouse are substantially bigger than average, the company has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that is constructed to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with different types of bodies or preferences may also pick a dual comfort option that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of those options feel quite right, you may always have a look at the four other mattresses in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option in the collection).
Next up, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s detectable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this will be significant for all buyers, those who sleep with a partner may find it particularly interesting as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you may be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Based on my observation, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the pocketed coils which help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper concerned that motion from the opposite side of the bed will wake you, you should not have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
While getting a brand-new mattress, most individuals wish to know whether they’ll feel as though they are sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
While you are going to experience some immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, when you sink through these layers, you’ll reach the individually-wrapped coils and experience great support. This combo will appeal to a vast assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the bed, the pocketed coils prevent the mattress from compressing too much . I feel quite secure seated on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfy and safe. Couples who want more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I could get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll roll over or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I believe the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically include. Helix Sleep is not any different. You customize the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it’s sent to your door. From the moment you click to buy the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not ideal, you can return it for free, and get a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. Actually, Helix Sleep locates a local place to donate it. When there is no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Sleep Careers
The Helix Mattress includes an amazing 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it has limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Needless to say, you should be the first owner of the Helix to make use of the guarantee, and you need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to have a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1″ or more, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For routine cleaning, it’s advised to use cold water with gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Make certain that you clean using soft circular motions, instead of rubbing.
