Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses made with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores fortified using polyfoam base layers. Helix Sleep Code
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Buyers are requested to fill out a questionnaire that discusses their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other options. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress options; each individual model offers a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them optimal for side sleepers. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel more comfy on models with balanced support, while people that weigh 130 pounds or more tend to favor the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them great for couples with different preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier individuals. This model has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a large assortment of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement well, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Sleep Code

Construction Helix Sleep Code
All 9 of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be quite similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density depending upon the foams used in order to attain more/less support and more/less firmness. The four unique foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the mattresses have all of the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 different variants (and hopefully have a model for everybody). Helix Sleep Code
Below, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you would like something more amped up, you can opt to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change fabric for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll find a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you’re likely to experience some great body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a supposedly medium firmness mattress to feature a memory foam layer, it’s crucial to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and establish a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the structure, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Since these coils are wrapped individually, they are also going to give additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will discover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment does not really affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us discuss their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on which version you pick out. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and thus exceptionally popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with more choices.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer feels soft and produces some high quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials within the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer composition. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is enough good comfort material in the Midnight to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For larger buyers or people who want a firmer bed, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Most side sleepers should feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you may want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically have to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with most their weight on a smaller region. People who are smaller than average or those in the market for lots of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers should feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their main position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Last, Helix Sleep suggests Helix for sleepers up to 350 pounds or couples who weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. If you or your partner are substantially bigger than average, Helix has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that’s constructed to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with differing types of bodies or preferences may also pick a dual comfort model that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of those options feel right, you can always check out the 4 other variants in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant in the collection).
Next up, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s noticeable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be important for all people, those who doze with a partner may find it especially interesting as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Sleep Code
According to my research, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the individually wrapped coils that help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper afraid that motion from the other side of the mattress will bother you, you shouldn’t have much concern with this mattress. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
While getting a brand-new mattress, the majority of individuals want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
Even though you are likely to encounter a little immediate sinkage from the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through those layers, you’ll reach the individually-wrapped coils and find great support. This combo will interest a wide assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the mattress, the coils stop the mattress from compressing a lot beyond that. I feel very secure seated on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There can be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfy and secure. Partners who need more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I could get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I will roll off or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I think that the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually include. Helix Sleep is no different. You customize the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and within two weeks, it’s delivered to your home. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it free, and receive a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. In fact, Helix Sleep does its best to find a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Sleep Code
Helix offers an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most warranties). Of course, you must be the original owner of the Helix to make use of the warranty, and you need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you will need to have a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4″ apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress starts to show an indentation of 1 inch or more, something that generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleanup, it’s advised to use cool water along gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Be certain that you wash using soft circular motions, rather than rubbing.
