Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Sleep.Com/Talk Radio
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Purchasers are asked to complete a questionnaire that asks for their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other elements. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress variants; each individual variant gives a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel most comfortable on models with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 lbs or more often prefer the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers two mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both of these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them great for couples with differing preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier people. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a wide assortment of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Sleep.Com/Talk Radio

Construction Helix Sleep.Com/Talk Radio
All nine of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be quite similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness based upon the foams used in order to attain more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 unique foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the beds have all the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine unique versions (and hopefully have a mattress for everybody). Helix Sleep.Com/Talk Radio
Below, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you want something more lavish, you can opt to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change fabric to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will discover a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you’re likely to experience some great body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a supposedly medium firmness bed to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it’s important to remember that the presence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you will find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Because the coils are wrapped individually, they’re also going to give extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will find a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This layer does not affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us talk about their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness of the Helix will differ widely depending on the model you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and thus best-selling. If you have more specific preferences, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with additional options.
Lying down on the Midnight, the memory foam layer is soft and produces some quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials in the mattress work to counteract this and create an overall firmer composition. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For larger buyers or people who want a firmer bed, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Most side sleepers should feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you are needing a bit less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you might want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with most of their weight on a tinier area. Those who are lighter than average or those in the market for lots of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their primary position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Finally, the manufacturer suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 pounds or couples who weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. In the event you or your spouse are substantially larger than average, Helix has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that’s constructed to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with different types of bodies or preferences may also select a dual comfort option that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of these models sound quite right, you can always have a look at the 4 other mattresses in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).
Now, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is noticeable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this will be important for all people, those who doze with a partner may find it especially intriguing as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Sleep.Com/Talk Radio
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the pocketed coils that help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper concerned that movement from the other side of the bed will bother you, you should not have a lot of concern with this mattress. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
While purchasing a brand-new mattress, most people wish to know whether they’ll feel as though they are sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you’re likely to encounter some immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through those layers, you’ll reach the individually-wrapped coils and experience amazing support. This combo will appeal to a vast range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot beyond that. I feel very secure seated on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There may be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfortable and secure. Partners who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I could get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I will fall off or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I believe the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically include. Helix is no different. You customize the mattress that’s intended for you, place your order, and in a couple of weeks, it is delivered to your door. From the minute you click to buy the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it for free, and get a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. In fact, Helix does its best to find a local place to donate it. When there’s no way the company can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Sleep.Com/Talk Radio
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most warranties). Needless to say, you should be the first owner of the Helix to use the warranty, and you need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you need to use a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix starts to have an indentation of 1″ or longer, which is what usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleaning, it is advised to use cold water along gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Be sure that you clean using soft circular movements, rather than rubbing.
