Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Customers are urged to fill out a questionnaire that discusses their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress variants; each respective option gives a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for side sleepers. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are suitable for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel most comfy on variants with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 lbs or more tend to favor the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them ideal for couples with different preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier people. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a large assortment of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Sleep Corporate Office

Construction Helix Sleep Corporate Office
All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be quite similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness based on the foams utilized in order to attain more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the beds have all the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 unique mattresses (and supposedly have a mattress for everybody). Helix Sleep Corporate Office
Underneath, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some great breathability. However, if you prefer something more luxurious, you can elect to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change material to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will find a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you’re likely to encounter some gratifying body shaping. While it might seem strange for a purportedly medium firmness bed to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it is important to remember that the presence of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the construction, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Because these coils are individually wrapped, they are also likely to encourage additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you will find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment does not affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix will differ widely depending on the variant you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and thus best-selling. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with more options.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam layer feels soft and produces some quality body shaping, while the other materials in the Midnight work to counteract this and make an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or people who want a firmer bed, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Majority of side sleepers will feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you are needing less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you may decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with most their weight on a tinier area. People who are lighter than average or people in the market for lots of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their main position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their back.
Finally, the manufacturer recommends Helix for sleepers up to 350 lbs or couples who weigh up to 250 pounds each. If you or your partner are significantly bigger than average, Helix has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that’s created to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with different types of bodies or tastes may also select a dual comfort model that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of those options seem right, you may always check out the four other mattresses in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant of the bunch).
Now, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is noticeable from one side of the bed to the other. While this will be crucial for many buyers, those who doze with a spouse may find it especially intriguing as it’ll show just how bothered you may be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. According to my research, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the pocketed coils which help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper afraid that motion from the opposite side of the mattress will bother you, then you shouldn’t have much concern with this mattress. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
While purchasing a new mattress, most individuals want to know whether they will feel like they are sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you may encounter a little immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through these layers, you are going to hit the individually-wrapped coils and find fantastic support. This combo will appeal to a vast assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the foam compress as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from collapsing too much beyond that. I feel quite secure seated on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their recently updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There can be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfy and secure. Couples who need more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I can get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll fall over or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I think that the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically include. Helix Sleep is not any different. You customize the mattress that is made for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it is sent to your door. From the moment you click to buy the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it free of charge, and receive a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. In fact, Helix Sleep finds a local place to donate it. If there’s no way the company can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Sleep Corporate Office
The Helix Mattress includes an amazing 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it comes with limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Of course, you should be the original owner of the Helix to make use of the guarantee, and you will need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to use a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4″ apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress starts to show an indentation of 1 inch or longer, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleaning, it is suggested to use cool water along gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Make certain to wash using soft circular movements, instead of rubbing.
