Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified with polyfoam base layers. Helix Sleep Crunchbase
Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Buyers are requested to complete a questionnaire that asks for their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress models; each individual model gives a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them optimal for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfortable on models with balanced support, while people who weigh 130 pounds or more tend to prefer the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with different preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier people. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a large assortment of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Sleep Crunchbase

Construction Helix Sleep Crunchbase
All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be fairly similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness based on the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The four different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the mattresses have all of the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine distinct versions (and hopefully have a mattress for everyone). Helix Sleep Crunchbase
Underneath, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you would like something more lavish, you can opt to swap out the standard cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change fabric to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will discover a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, which means you are likely to encounter some gratifying body shaping. While it might seem odd for a supposedly medium firmness bed to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it’s crucial to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it gives quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you will find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Because the coils are wrapped individually, they are also likely to give additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you will find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t really affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us talk about their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on the version you select. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and thus exceptionally popular. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with more choices.
Lying down on the Midnight, the memory foam layer feels soft and generates some quality body contouring, while the other materials within the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or people who prefer a firmer bed, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Many side sleepers should feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you are needing less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you might want to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with all their weight on a smaller region. Those who are smaller than average or those in the market for lots of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their primary position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Finally, Helix Sleep suggests Helix for sleepers around 350 pounds or couples that weigh up to 250 pounds each. If you or your partner are substantially bigger than average, Helix has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that is built to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with different body types or tastes may also pick a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of these models feel quite right, you may always check out the four other mattresses in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option in the line).
Now, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is detectable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be crucial for many sleepers, those who doze with a partner may find it particularly interesting as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you may be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Sleep Crunchbase
Based on my observation, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it contains, as well as the pocketed coils which help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper afraid that movement from the opposite side of the bed will wake you, then you shouldn’t have much concern with this hybrid. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
When getting a new mattress, the majority of men and women would like to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you may experience some immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll find the pocketed coils and find fantastic support. This combo will appeal to a vast assortment of individuals, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers the most.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the coils stop the mattress from compressing a lot beyond that. I feel quite secure sitting on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There may be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfy and secure. Couples who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I could get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will fall off or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I think the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually come with. Helix Mattress is no different. You customize the mattress that is intended for you, place your order, and in a couple of weeks, it’s delivered to your home. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not ideal, you can return it free, and receive a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. Actually, Helix does its best to locate a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Sleep Crunchbase
Helix offers a generous 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it comes with some limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Needless to say, you must be the first owner of the Helix to make use of the guarantee, and you need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you need to use a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1 inch or longer, which is what typically happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleaning, it is advised to use cool water with gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Make sure to clean using soft circular motions, rather than rubbing.
