Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Sleep Hq
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Customers are urged to fill out a questionnaire that discusses their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress variants; each respective model provides a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for side sleepers. While those with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfortable on models with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 pounds or more often prefer the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them suitable for couples with differing preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier individuals. This model has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a wide range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate movement well, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Sleep Hq

Construction Helix Sleep Hq
All 9 of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be rather similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density depending upon the foams used in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 different foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the variants have all the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine different variants (and hopefully have a mattress for everyone). Helix Sleep Hq
Below, I briefly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some wonderful breathability. However, if you would like something more luxurious, you can elect to swap out the normal cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change material for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will encounter a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you are probably going to encounter some gratifying body shaping. While it might seem strange for a purportedly medium firmness bed to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it is crucial to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you will find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this section of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since the coils are individually wrapped, they’re also likely to give extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you will uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer does not really affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix will differ widely depending on which variant you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be very versatile and thus best-selling. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with additional choices.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer feels soft and generates some top quality body shaping, while the other materials within the mattress work to counteract this and make an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or people who want a firmer mattress, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Most side sleepers will feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you are needing a bit less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you may want to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with most of their weight on a tinier area. Those who are lighter than average or people looking for plenty of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their primary position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their back.
Last, Helix Sleep recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 lbs or partners who weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. In the event you or your spouse are substantially larger than average, the company has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that’s created to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with differing body types or preferences can also select a dual comfort option that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of these models feel right, you could always have a look at the four other models in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant in the collection).
Next up, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is noticeable from one side of the bed to the other. While this will be significant for many people, those who doze with a spouse may find it especially intriguing as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Sleep Hq
According to my research, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it contains, as well as the pocketed coils which help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper worried that movement from the opposite side of the mattress will wake you, then you should not have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
While buying a new mattress, the majority of individuals wish to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
While you may experience a little immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through these layers, you will find the pocketed coils and find fantastic support. This combination will appeal to a wide assortment of individuals, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers the most.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the bed, the coils prevent the mattress from collapsing a lot beyond that. I feel very secure sitting on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their recently updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfy and secure. Partners who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I can get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll fall over or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I believe that the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically include. Helix Sleep is no different. You customize the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and in a couple of weeks, it’s delivered to your home. From the minute you click to buy the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it free, and receive a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. Actually, Helix Sleep locates a local place to donate it. When there is no way the company can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Sleep Hq
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the customer (like most guarantees ). Of course, you must be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the guarantee, and you need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to have a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress starts to have an indentation of 1 inch or more, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleaning, it’s suggested to use cold water with gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Make sure that you wash using gentle circular movements, instead of rubbing.
