Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses made using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Sleep Instagram
Helix Sleep allows full mattress customization. Customers are requested to complete a survey that discusses their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress models; each respective model gives a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While those that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel most comfortable on variants with balanced support, while those who weigh 130 pounds or more tend to prefer the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with different preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier individuals. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a large variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate movement well, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Sleep Instagram

Construction Helix Sleep Instagram
All nine of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be rather similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness based on the foams used in order to attain more/less support and more/less firmness. The four different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the models have all of the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine unique versions (and supposedly have a mattress for everyone). Helix Sleep Instagram
Below, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you want something more luxurious, you can choose to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change fabric to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll find a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, which means you’re likely to experience some gratifying body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a supposedly medium firm bed to make use of a memory foam layer, it is crucial to remember that the presence of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it gives quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you will find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress is made up of this segment of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Because the coils are wrapped individually, they are also going to allow extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix will differ widely depending on which version you select. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and thus exceptionally popular. If you have more specific requirements, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with more choices.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer is soft and produces some quality body shaping, while the other materials in the Midnight work to counteract this and create an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or people who prefer a firmer mattress, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Many side sleepers should feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, however, if you are wanting less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you might want to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with all their weight on a smaller region. Those who are lighter than average or people looking for plenty of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this is not their main position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Last, Helix Sleep recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 lbs or couples who weigh up to 250 lbs each. In the event you or your spouse are substantially larger than average, Helix has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that’s built to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with different types of bodies or tastes may also pick a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of these options feel quite right, you may always check out the 4 other beds in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option in the collection).
Next up, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is noticeable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this will be crucial for many people, those who sleep with a partner may find it especially intriguing as it will show just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Sleep Instagram
Based on my observation, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the individually wrapped coils which help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that movement from the other side of the bed will bother you, you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this mattress. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
When purchasing a brand-new mattress, the majority of men and women wish to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
While you’re going to experience a little immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through these layers, you will hit the individually-wrapped coils and feel fantastic support. This combination will interest a vast range of individuals, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot beyond that. I feel quite secured sitting on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their freshly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There can be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfortable and safe. Couples who need more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I can get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll roll over or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I think the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually come with. Helix is no different. You customize the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and within two weeks, it’s delivered to your door. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it for free, and get a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. In fact, Helix Sleep does its best to find a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Sleep Instagram
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it has some limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Of course, you must be the first owner of the mattress to make use of the guarantee, and you need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to use a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress starts to show an indentation of 1 inch or more, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleaning, it’s advised to use cool water with gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Be sure to wash using gentle circular movements, instead of rubbing.
