Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Sleep International
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Customers are asked to fill out a questionnaire that discusses their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other options. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress variants; each individual variant gives a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them optimal for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfortable on models with balanced support, while people that weigh 130 pounds or more often favor the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them suitable for couples with differing preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier individuals. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a wide range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Sleep International

Construction Helix Sleep International
All 9 of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be fairly similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness based on the foams utilized in order to attain more/less support and more/less firmness. The four unique foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the beds have all the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine different variants (and hopefully have a model for everyone). Helix Sleep International
Below, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you want something more lavish, you can elect to swap out the standard cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change fabric for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will find a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, which means you’re probably going to encounter some gratifying body contouring. While it might seem strange for a supposedly medium firm mattress to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it’s crucial to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it gives quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress is made up of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are wrapped individually, they’re also going to encourage extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you will uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This section does not affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us talk about their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix will vary widely depending on the model you select. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be very versatile and therefore best-selling. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with more options.
Lying down on the Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer is soft and produces some quality body shaping, while the other materials in the mattress work to control this and create an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your back in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or people who prefer a firmer bed, there are two more options for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Most side sleepers will feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you might want to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with most their weight on a smaller area. People who are smaller than average or those in the market for lots of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their primary position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their backbone.
Finally, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers around 350 pounds or partners that weigh up to 250 lbs each. In the event you or your partner are significantly larger than average, the company has also created a bed called the Nightfall that’s built to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with different body types or tastes may also select a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of those models seem quite right, you can always have a look at the four other variants in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant of the bunch).
Now, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s noticeable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this will be important for many buyers, those who sleep with a spouse may find it particularly interesting as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Based on my observation, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the individually wrapped coils that help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper afraid that motion from the opposite side of the mattress will wake you, then you should not have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
When purchasing a brand-new mattress, most men and women wish to know whether they will feel like they are sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
While you are likely to experience a little immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through those layers, you are going to hit the individually-wrapped coils and feel great support. This combination will interest a wide assortment of individuals, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the bed, the pocketed coils prevent the mattress from compressing a lot . I feel very secured seated on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their newly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There can be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfortable and secure. Couples who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I could get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll roll over or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I think the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually include. Helix Mattress is not any different. You create the mattress that is made for you, place your order, and in two weeks, it’s delivered to your home. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you have 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it free of charge, and receive a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. Actually, the company finds a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Sleep International
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most warranties). Of course, you should be the first owner of the Helix to make use of the warranty, and you will need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you need to have a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1″ or more, which is what usually happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleaning, it’s suggested to use cool water with gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Be sure to clean using gentle circular movements, instead of rubbing.
