Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses made with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Sleep King Mattress
Helix Sleep offers complete mattress customization. Buyers are asked to complete a questionnaire that asks for their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other factors. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress variants; each individual model offers a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them optimal for side sleepers. While those that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfy on models with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 lbs or more often favor the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both of these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with differing preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier people. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a large assortment of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Sleep King Mattress

Construction Helix Sleep King Mattress
All 9 of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be rather similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness depending upon the foams utilized in order to get more/less support and more/less firmness. The four different foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the variants have all the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine different versions (and hopefully have a mattress for everyone). Helix Sleep King Mattress
Underneath, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you would like something more amped up, you can opt to swap out the regular cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change material for heat regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll discover a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you’re likely to encounter some gratifying body shaping. While it might seem strange for a supposedly medium firmness bed to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it is crucial to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it gives quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you will find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress consists of this segment of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Because these coils are individually wrapped, they are also going to allow additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you’ll discover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment does not affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us talk about their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix will vary widely depending on which variant you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and therefore exceptionally popular. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to oblige you with additional options.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam layer feels soft and produces some quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials in the Midnight work to control this and make an overall firmer composition. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there’s just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your back in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or those who want a firmer mattress, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Many side sleepers will feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you’re needing a bit less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you might decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with most their weight on a smaller area. Those who are lighter than average or people looking for a lot of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers should feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their main position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Lastly, the manufacturer recommends Helix for sleepers up to 350 pounds or couples who weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. In the event you or your partner are substantially larger than average, the company has also created a bed called the Nightfall that’s created to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Couples with differing types of bodies or tastes may also pick a dual comfort model that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of these options feel quite right, you could always check out the 4 other variants in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option of the bunch).
Now, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is detectable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this will be crucial for many people, those who doze with a partner may find it especially interesting as it will illuminate just how bothered you’ll be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Based on my observation, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the pocketed coils which help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that movement from the opposite side of the mattress will wake you, then you should not have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
When purchasing a new mattress, the majority of people would like to know whether they will feel as though they are sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
While you may experience some immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through those layers, you’ll hit the pocketed coils and find amazing support. This combination will appeal to a vast range of individuals, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from compressing too much . I feel quite secured seated on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their newly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There can be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfy and secure. Couples who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Laying down, I feel like I can get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I will fall over or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I think the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically come with. Helix Sleep is not any different. You customize the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and in a couple of weeks, it is sent to your door. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t what you wanted, you can return it for free, and get a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. In fact, Helix Sleep does its best to locate a local place to donate it. When there is no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Sleep King Mattress
The Helix Mattress includes an amazing 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it comes with some limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Of course, you must be the original owner of the mattress to use the guarantee, and you need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to use a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1 inch or more, something that generally happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleanup, it is suggested to use cool water with gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Make sure to clean using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
