Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Sleep King
Helix Sleep allows full mattress customization. Customers are asked to complete a questionnaire that asks for their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress models; each respective model provides a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them optimal for side sleepers. While those that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel more comfy on variants with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 pounds or more often favor the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both these models have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them suitable for couples with different tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier individuals. This model has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a wide variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate movement well, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Sleep King

Construction Helix Sleep King
All 9 of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be rather similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness depending on the foams used in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The four unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the mattresses have all of the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine different mattresses (and hopefully have a mattress for everybody). Helix Sleep King
Underneath, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you would like something more lavish, you can choose to swap out the normal cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change fabric to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will encounter a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, meaning you are likely to encounter some great body shaping. Even though it may seem odd for a purportedly medium firm bed to make use of a memory foam comfort layer, it is important to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this segment of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift into the structure, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Since these coils are wrapped individually, they are also likely to give extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you’ll uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t really affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us talk about their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix will differ widely depending on which version you select. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which will be very versatile and therefore exceptionally popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with additional options.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam layer feels soft and produces some quality body shaping, while the other materials in the mattress work to counteract this and create an overall firmer composition. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lumbar while supporting your back in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or those who want a firmer mattress, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Most side sleepers should feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you are needing less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you may decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with all of their weight on a tinier region. People who are lighter than average or those looking for lots of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this is not their main position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.
Finally, Helix Sleep suggests Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 pounds or partners who weigh up to 250 pounds each. If you or your partner are significantly bigger than average, Helix has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that is constructed to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with differing types of bodies or preferences may also pick a dual comfort model that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of those models seem right, you could always have a look at the 4 other models in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant in the line).
Now, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this will be important for many sleepers, those who doze with a spouse may find it especially interesting as it will show just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Sleep King
According to my research, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the pocketed coils that help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper afraid that movement from the opposite side of the mattress will wake you, then you should not have much concern with this mattress. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
When getting a brand-new mattress, most men and women wish to know whether they’ll feel like they are sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
While you may encounter a little immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through those layers, you will hit the pocketed coils and find fantastic support. This combo will interest a wide range of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the bed, the pocketed coils stop the mattress from compressing too much . I feel quite secure sitting on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their freshly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfy and safe. Couples who need more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Laying down, I feel like I could get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll roll off or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I think the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually include. Helix Sleep is not any different. You create the mattress that’s meant for you, place your order, and within two weeks, it’s delivered to your door. From the minute you click to buy the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t what you wanted, you can return it free, and receive a complete refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. In fact, Helix Sleep does its best to locate a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it’s recycled instead. Helix Sleep King
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most guarantees ). Of course, you must be the original owner of the Helix to use the guarantee, and you will need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you need to use a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress starts to have an indentation of 1″ or more, something that generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleanup, it’s advised to use cold water along gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Make certain to clean using soft circular motions, instead of rubbing.
