Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores fortified using polyfoam base layers. Helix Sleep Location
Helix Sleep offers complete mattress customization. Purchasers are urged to complete a questionnaire that asks for their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other options. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress variants; each respective variant provides a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for side sleepers. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are suitable for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfortable on models with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 pounds or more tend to favor the variants with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both of these variants have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them suitable for couples with different preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier individuals. This model has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a large range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and produce less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Sleep Location

Construction Helix Sleep Location
All nine of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be fairly similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness depending on the foams used in order to get more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 different foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the models have all the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine unique variants (and hopefully have a mattress for everyone). Helix Sleep Location
Underneath, I concisely discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some wonderful breathability. But, if you would like something more lavish, you can choose to swap out the regular cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change fabric to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will find a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, meaning you’re probably going to experience some satisfying body contouring. Even though it may seem odd for a purportedly medium firmness bed to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it’s important to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it gives quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you will uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this segment of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the construction, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since the coils are individually wrapped, they are also likely to encourage extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will find a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This segment does not really affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s talk about their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on the variant you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which will be very versatile and therefore best-selling. If you have more specific preferences, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to oblige you with additional choices.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam layer feels soft and produces some quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials within the mattress work to control this and create an overall firmer composition. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there’s enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or people who want a firmer mattress, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Many side sleepers will feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you’re wanting a bit less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you may decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with all of their weight on a tinier region. Those who are smaller than average or people in the market for plenty of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers will feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their primary position or they tend to change things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Last, Helix Sleep recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 pounds or partners that weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. In the event you or your partner are substantially bigger than average, the company has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that is made to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with different body types or tastes can also pick a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of those models seem quite right, you may always check out the 4 other mattresses in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant in the line).
Now, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this will be crucial for all sleepers, those who sleep with a partner may find it especially interesting as it will illuminate just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Based on my observation, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the individually wrapped coils which help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that motion from the other side of the bed will wake you, you should not have much concern with this mattress. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
When getting a brand-new mattress, the majority of men and women wish to know whether they’ll feel as though they are sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
While you may experience a little immediate sinkage from the soft foam at the top, when you sink through those layers, you are going to reach the pocketed coils and find fantastic support. This combination will appeal to a vast range of individuals, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the coils prevent the mattress from collapsing a lot . I feel quite secure sitting on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their newly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There may be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfy and secure. Partners who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I can get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I will fall off or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I think that the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually include. Helix is not any different. You create the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and in two weeks, it’s delivered to your home. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not perfect, you can return it for free of charge, and receive a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. In fact, Helix Sleep does its best to find a local place to donate it. When there’s no way the company can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Sleep Location
Helix offers an awesome 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it has some limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you should be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the warranty, and you need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you will need to use a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4″ apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix starts to show an indentation of 1 inch or more, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleanup, it’s suggested to use cold water with gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Be certain to clean using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
