Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses made using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Sleep Logo
Helix Sleep allows complete mattress customization. Purchasers are urged to complete a survey that discusses their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress options; each individual option offers a unique combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel most comfortable on models with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 lbs or more often favor the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers two mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both of these models have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them ideal for couples with different tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier individuals. This model has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a wide variety of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Sleep Logo

Construction Helix Sleep Logo
All 9 of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be rather similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness depending upon the foams used in order to attain more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 unique foams used within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the beds have all of the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine distinct variants (and hopefully have a model for everybody). Helix Sleep Logo
Underneath, I concisely talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some great breathability. However, if you would like something more luxurious, you can choose to swap out the standard cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change material to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll find a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, which means you are probably going to encounter some great body contouring. Even though it may seem odd for a supposedly medium firmness mattress to make use of a memory foam layer, it is important to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it produces quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and establish a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this section of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they’re also going to give extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you’ll uncover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section doesn’t really affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on which variant you pick out. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be very versatile and therefore very popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with additional options.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer feels soft and produces some quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials within the Midnight work to control this and create an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For larger buyers or those who prefer a firmer mattress, there are two more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Many side sleepers will feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you are needing less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you might want to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with most of their weight on a tinier area. Those who are smaller than average or people looking for plenty of pressure relief might want to stay with the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their main position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can ensure their hips do not dip and over-arch their backbone.
Lastly, Helix Sleep suggests Helix for sleepers up to 350 pounds or partners that weigh up to 250 lbs each. In the event you or your partner are substantially larger than average, Helix has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that’s created to accommodate a total weight of 1000 lbs.
Partners with differing types of bodies or preferences may also pick a dual comfort model that pairs Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if none of those options feel right, you could always have a look at the four other models in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option of the bunch).
Next up, let us chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this will be important for many people, those who sleep with a spouse may find it particularly intriguing as it will show just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Sleep Logo
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the pocketed coils which help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper concerned that movement from the other side of the mattress will bother you, then you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.
While buying a brand-new mattress, the majority of men and women want to know whether they will feel as though they are sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
While you’re likely to experience a little immediate sinkage from the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through these layers, you are going to hit the pocketed coils and find great support. This combo will appeal to a wide range of individuals, but will suit stomach and back sleepers the most.
While I do feel the memory foam collapse as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the individually-wrapped coils prevent the mattress from compressing a lot . I feel very secured seated on the mattress.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfortable and safe. Partners who need more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Lying down, I feel like I could get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll fall over or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I think that the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually include. Helix Sleep is no different. You create the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it’s delivered to your home. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not ideal, you can return it for free of charge, and get a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. Actually, the company finds a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Sleep Logo
Helix offers an amazing 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it has limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Of course, you should be the first owner of the Helix to use the warranty, and you need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you need to use a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4″ apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your Helix starts to have an indentation of 1″ or more, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleanup, it’s suggested to use cold water with gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Be certain to clean using gentle circular movements, rather than rubbing.
