Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores fortified with polyfoam base layers. Helix Sleep Matrace
Helix Sleep offers complete mattress customization. Customers are urged to fill out a questionnaire that discusses their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other factors. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress models; each respective option gives a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for side sleepers. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel more comfortable on models with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 lbs or more tend to favor the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with different preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier people. This model has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a large range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Sleep Matrace

Construction Helix Sleep Matrace
All 9 of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction will be quite similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in density and firmness depending upon the foams used in order to get more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the variants have all the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine unique mattresses (and hopefully have a model for everybody). Helix Sleep Matrace
Below, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you want something more amped up, you can opt to swap out the normal cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase-change material to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will encounter a thick layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, which means you’re likely to experience some gratifying body contouring. Even though it may seem strange for a purportedly medium firmness bed to feature a memory foam layer, it’s crucial to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you will discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to curb the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they’re also going to give additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you will uncover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their different firmness levels and feels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on the version you pick out. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and thus exceptionally popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with additional options.
Laying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer is soft and produces some quality body contouring, while the other materials in the Midnight work to control this and make an overall firmer structure. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For larger buyers or those who want a firmer mattress, there are two more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn variants.
Many side sleepers should feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you are wanting a bit less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you may decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with all their weight on a tinier area. People who are lighter than average or people looking for a lot of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach should feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their primary position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.
Finally, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers around 350 lbs or couples who weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. In the event you or your spouse are significantly bigger than average, the company has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that is built to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with differing body types or tastes may also pick a dual comfort option that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of those options sound right, you may always check out the 4 other beds in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option in the collection).
Next up, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s noticeable from 1 side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be important for all buyers, those who doze with a spouse may find it particularly intriguing as it will illuminate just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Sleep Matrace
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it incorporates, in addition to the individually wrapped coils which help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper concerned that movement from the opposite side of the mattress will wake you, then you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this mattress. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
While getting a new mattress, most men and women wish to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
While you may experience some immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through these layers, you will hit the individually-wrapped coils and experience great support. This combo will appeal to a vast assortment of individuals, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers the most.
While I do feel the foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the Helix Midnight, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from collapsing a lot . I feel very secure seated on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There can be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfy and safe. Couples who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I can get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will roll off or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I think the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually come with. Helix Sleep is no different. You customize the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and within two weeks, it is delivered to your door. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it for free of charge, and receive a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. Actually, Helix finds a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Sleep Matrace
Helix offers an amazing 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most warranties). Needless to say, you must be the first owner of the mattress to use the warranty, and you need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you will need to have a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress begins to have an indentation of 1″ or more, which is what usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleanup, it’s suggested to use cold water along gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Be certain to clean using gentle circular movements, instead of rubbing.
