Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Sleep Press Release
Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Buyers are requested to complete a questionnaire that discusses their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other options. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress variants; each respective model provides a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While those that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel most comfy on models with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 pounds or more tend to favor the variants with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets two mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both of these variants have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them suitable for couples with differing tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a wide variety of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Sleep Press Release

Construction Helix Sleep Press Release
All nine of the different iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be rather similar. The 6 core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness based upon the foams utilized in order to get more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 different foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the mattresses have all of the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine different variants (and supposedly have a model for everyone). Helix Sleep Press Release
Below, I quickly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be thin and stretchy, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you prefer something more luxurious, you can opt to swap out the standard cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change material to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll find a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, meaning you’re likely to encounter some great body shaping. Even though it may seem strange for a purportedly medium firmness mattress to feature a memory foam layer, it is important to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it produces quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Because the coils are individually wrapped, they are also likely to encourage additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you will find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s talk about their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on which version you pick out. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which will be quite versatile and thus best-selling. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with additional choices.
Lying down on the Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer is soft and generates some top quality body shaping, while the other materials within the mattress work to control this and make an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or those who want a firmer mattress, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight models.
Most side sleepers will feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, however, if you’re wanting less pressure while still going with a flexible medium firmness, you may decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with most their weight on a tinier region. People who are lighter than average or those looking for a lot of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their primary position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Lastly, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers around 350 pounds or couples who weigh up to 250 pounds each. If you or your spouse are significantly bigger than average, Helix has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that is built to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with different body types or preferences may also pick a dual comfort model that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of those options feel quite right, you may always have a look at the 4 other models in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the collection).
Now, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this will be significant for many sleepers, those who sleep with a spouse may find it particularly intriguing as it will show just how bothered you’ll be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Based on my observation, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the pocketed coils which help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that motion from the other side of the mattress will bother you, you should not have much concern with this hybrid. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
When getting a brand-new mattress, most people want to know whether they’ll feel like they are sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
While you are likely to encounter some immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, when you sink through those layers, you will find the individually-wrapped coils and feel amazing support. This combination will interest a vast assortment of sleepers, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the foam collapse as I sit close to the edge of the mattress, the coils prevent the mattress from collapsing a lot beyond that. I feel very secure seated on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their newly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil system. There may be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfortable and safe. Partners who need more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Lying down, I feel like I could get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will fall over or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I think that the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically come with. Helix is not any different. You create the mattress that’s meant for you, place your order, and in a couple of weeks, it is delivered to your door. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it is not ideal, you can return it free of charge, and receive a full refund.
If you do return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. In fact, Helix locates a local place to donate it. When there is no way the company can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Sleep Press Release
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it has some limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most guarantees ). Of course, you should be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the warranty, and you will need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to have a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress starts to have an indentation of 1 inch or longer, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it’s recommended that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleanup, it is advised to use cool water with gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Be sure to wash using gentle circular movements, instead of rubbing.
