Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses manufactured using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores fortified with polyfoam base layers. Helix Sleep Price

Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Customers are urged to complete a survey that asks for their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other elements. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress options; each individual option gives a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:

  • Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
  • Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
  • Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support

Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While hybrids with moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel more comfy on models with balanced support, while people that weigh 130 lbs or more tend to favor the models with extra support.

Helix Sleep also markets 2 variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both these models have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them great for couples with different preferences. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier individuals. This model has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.

My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a wide variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and create less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Sleep Price

Construction Helix Sleep Price

All nine of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be rather similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.

Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density based on the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the models have all the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine distinct variants (and supposedly have a model for everyone). Helix Sleep Price

Below, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.

helix-midnight-construction

Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some nice breathability. But, if you would like something more lavish, you can opt to swap out the standard cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change material to regulate heat.

Comfort Layer – Up top, you will encounter a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, meaning you are probably going to encounter some gratifying body contouring. While it might seem odd for a purportedly medium firmness mattress to feature a memory foam comfort layer, it is crucial to remember that the feeling of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feel.

Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the individually wrapped coils underneath.

Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this section of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the construction, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Since the coils are wrapped individually, they’re also going to give extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.

Base Layer – Lastly, you will uncover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This segment doesn’t affect the feel of the bed too much, working mostly to give the pocketed coils something off of which to react.

Firmness and Support

After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their different firmness levels and feels.

helix-mattress-firmness-and-support-scale

The firmness of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on which variant you select. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which is going to be very versatile and thus exceptionally popular. If you have more specific preferences, however, Helix Sleep is happy to oblige you with more options.

Lying down on the Midnight, the memory foam comfort layer is soft and generates some quality body shaping, while the other materials within the mattress work to counteract this and create an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also assist with re-positioning.

For those who sleep on their back, there is enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole back in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or those who prefer a firmer bed, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.

Most side sleepers should feel totally comfortable on the Midnight, however, if you are needing less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you might decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.

Side sleepers typically have to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with most of their weight on a tinier area. People who are lighter than average or those looking for plenty of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher models.

Stomach sleepers should feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their primary position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.

Last, Helix Sleep recommends Helix for sleepers up to 350 pounds or couples who weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. If you or your spouse are substantially larger than average, the company has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that’s made to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.

Couples with differing types of bodies or tastes can also select a dual comfort option that combines Firm with Plush.

Bear in mind that if none of those options seem quite right, you may always check out the 4 other beds in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).

Motion Transfer

Next up, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s noticeable from one side of the bed to the other. While this will be crucial for all buyers, those who sleep with a spouse may find it especially interesting as it’ll illuminate just how bothered you may be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Sleep Price

Based on my observation, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the individually wrapped coils which help keep motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper worried that motion from the opposite side of the bed will bother you, then you should not have a lot of concern with this mattress. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good choice for couples.

Sinkage

While buying a new mattress, the majority of men and women would like to know whether they’ll feel like they are sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.

While you’re likely to experience some immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll find the pocketed coils and experience amazing support. This combo will interest a wide assortment of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.

Edge Support

Though I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the coils prevent the mattress from collapsing a lot . I feel very secured sitting on the bed.

In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their newly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfy and safe. Couples who need more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.

Laying down, I also feel like I could get near the edge of the mattress without feeling like I will roll over or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I believe that the Helix mattress has great edge support.

100 Night Sleep Trial

Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically include. Helix Mattress is no different. You create the mattress that is meant for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it is delivered to your home. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t what you wanted, you can return it for free, and receive a complete refund.

If you do return the mattress, it isn’t resold or restocked. Actually, Helix finds a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Sleep Price

Helix Warranty

The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it has a few limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the customer (like most guarantees ). Of course, you should be the original owner of the Helix to make use of the warranty, and you will need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.

Provided that you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to have a proper base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on it!

If your Helix begins to have an indentation of 1″ or more, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a replacement or repair of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?

Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excessive sagging.

For routine cleaning, it’s advised to use cool water with gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Be sure that you clean using soft circular movements, instead of rubbing.
