Helix Sleep markets hybrid mattresses made with dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Sleep Review
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Buyers are asked to complete a questionnaire that asks for their weight, height, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other options. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following six mattress options; each individual variant offers a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, making them optimal for those who sleep on their side. While mattresses that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are suitable for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfortable on models with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 lbs or more tend to favor the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers 2 models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, making them suitable for couples with differing tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for bigger, heavier people. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a large range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Sleep Review

Construction Helix Sleep Review
All 9 of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be rather similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density based on the foams used in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The four unique foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the models have all of the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the consumer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 unique versions (and hopefully have a mattress for everybody). Helix Sleep Review
Underneath, I briefly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some great breathability. However, if you would like something more luxurious, you can elect to swap out the regular cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change material to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will encounter a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you are probably going to encounter some gratifying body contouring. While it might seem odd for a supposedly medium firmness mattress to feature a memory foam layer, it is crucial to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in fact, most of the time it gives quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you will discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – The majority of the mattress consists of this section of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the construction, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, instead of “in it”. Because these coils are wrapped individually, they’re also going to give additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will find a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment doesn’t affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness of the Helix will differ widely depending on which model you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and thus best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with additional options.
Lying down on the Midnight, the memory foam layer feels soft and generates some top quality body contouring, while the other materials within the Midnight work to control this and make an overall firmer structure. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or people who prefer a firmer mattress, there are 2 more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Majority of side sleepers will feel perfectly comfortable on the Midnight, but, if you are needing less pressure while still going with a versatile medium firmness, you might decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with all of their weight on a smaller area. People who are lighter than average or people in the market for a lot of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher variants.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their primary position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer mattresses may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so that they can ensure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Lastly, the manufacturer suggests Helix for sleepers up to 350 lbs or partners who weigh up to 250 pounds each. In the event you or your partner are substantially bigger than average, the company has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that is created to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with differing body types or preferences can also pick a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of these options seem right, you may always have a look at the 4 other models in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest variant in the collection).
Now, let us talk about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s noticeable from one side of the bed to the other. While this will be crucial for all sleepers, those who sleep with a partner may find it especially interesting as it will show just how bothered you may be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Sleep Review
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it incorporates, as well as the individually wrapped coils which help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that movement from the opposite side of the bed will bother you, you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I would say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
When getting a brand-new mattress, the majority of men and women wish to know whether they will feel like they are sinking “into” the mattress or lying “on top” of it.
While you may encounter a little immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through these layers, you’ll reach the pocketed coils and feel great support. This combo will interest a wide range of individuals, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the individually-wrapped coils stop the mattress from collapsing too much . I feel very secured sitting on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their newly updated edges that contain reinforcement in the coil unit. There can be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfy and secure. Couples who want more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Laying down, I feel like I can get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I will roll over or be ejected from the mattress. Overall, I believe the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of buying a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they usually come with. Helix Sleep is no different. You customize the mattress that’s meant for you, place your order, and in a couple of weeks, it’s delivered to your home. From the minute you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t what you wanted, you can return it free of charge, and get a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not restocked or resold. Actually, Helix does its best to locate a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Sleep Review
The Helix Mattress includes an awesome 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it comes with limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the customer (like most warranties). Of course, you should be the original owner of the Helix to use the warranty, and you will need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
As long as you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to have a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your mattress starts to have an indentation of 1″ or more, which is what generally happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it is recommended that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleaning, it’s suggested to use cool water along gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Be sure that you clean using soft circular motions, rather than rubbing.

The features of this mattress were thoughtfully constructed to provide choices whether you were searching for a mattress that stays cool all night, in the event that you needed one to cradle your shape with a thick comfort system, or both! The coil unit should offer great edge support and movement transfer is minimal with their individually-wrapped structure.
