Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores reinforced using polyfoam base layers. Helix Sleep Reviews
Helix Sleep allows full mattress customization. Buyers are asked to complete a questionnaire that asks for their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress options; each individual variant provides a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep hybrids with targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for those who sleep on their side. While those with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfortable on variants with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 pounds or more often prefer the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also offers two mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both of these models have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, which makes them suitable for couples with different preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier individuals. This model has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a wide range of firmness preferences and body types. The mattresses also provide strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Sleep Reviews

Construction Helix Sleep Reviews
All 9 of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 variants, the construction should be fairly similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses differ in firmness and density based upon the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the mattresses have all the foams – some just have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 unique versions (and hopefully have a model for everybody). Helix Sleep Reviews
Underneath, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you want something more lavish, you can elect to swap out the regular cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change material to regulate heat.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll discover a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow response to pressure, which means you are likely to encounter some satisfying body contouring. While it might seem odd for a supposedly medium firm bed to make use of a memory foam comfort layer, it is crucial to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in fact, oftentimes it generates quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After getting past the comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress consists of this segment of individually wrapped coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the construction, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Because these coils are wrapped individually, they are also going to give additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you will find a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section does not affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After taking a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us chat about their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix will vary widely depending on the version you select. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which is going to be quite versatile and therefore exceptionally popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep is happy to provide you with more choices.
Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam layer is soft and generates some quality body contouring, while the other materials in the mattress work to counteract this and create an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is enough good comfort material in the Midnight to conform to your lower spine while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or people who want a firmer bed, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Majority of side sleepers should feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, but, if you are wanting less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you might decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with all their weight on a tinier area. People who are smaller than average or people in the market for lots of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their main position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer mattresses might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their back.
Finally, the manufacturer recommends Helix for sleepers around 350 pounds or couples who weigh up to 250 lbs each. In the event you or your partner are significantly bigger than average, the company has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that is built to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with different types of bodies or preferences can also select a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of those options feel quite right, you can always have a look at the 4 other mattresses in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress of the bunch).
Next up, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this will be important for many people, those who sleep with a spouse may find it especially interesting as it will illuminate just how bothered you’ll be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Helix Sleep Reviews
According to my research, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it contains, as well as the individually wrapped coils that help trap motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that motion from the other side of the mattress will bother you, you should not have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
When purchasing a new mattress, the majority of individuals want to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.
Even though you may encounter some immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, when you sink through these layers, you will find the individually-wrapped coils and feel fantastic support. This combination will appeal to a vast assortment of individuals, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the bed, the pocketed coils prevent the mattress from compressing too much . I feel quite secured sitting on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is because of their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There can be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with your entire weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfortable and safe. Partners who need more space to stretch out normally love strong edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I could get near the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll roll off or be pushed off the bed. Overall, I think the Helix mattress has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually include. Helix Mattress is not any different. You create the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it’s sent to your door. From the minute you click to order the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it for free of charge, and get a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. In fact, the company does its best to find a local place to donate it. When there is no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Sleep Reviews
Helix offers a generous 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most warranties). Of course, you should be the original owner of the Helix to make use of the guarantee, and you need to be sure that you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to have a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and that you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on it!
If your mattress begins to show an indentation of 1″ or longer, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a replacement or repair of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses need no turning, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For routine cleanup, it is suggested to use cold water along gentle dish detergent to clean any dirt or stains. Make sure to clean using gentle circular movements, rather than rubbing.
