Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses made using polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Sleep Unboxing
Helix Sleep gives you complete mattress customization. Customers are urged to complete a survey that asks for their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other elements. Then based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress options; each respective option gives a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them optimal for those who sleep on their side. While those that have moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are suitable for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel more comfortable on models with balanced support, while individuals who weigh 130 pounds or more often favor the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also offers two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with targeted cushioning and balanced support) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and extra support). Both of these mattresses have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with differing tastes. Lastly, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an extra layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a large variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement well, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Sleep Unboxing

Construction Helix Sleep Unboxing
All 9 of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be rather similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness depending upon the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The four different foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the models have all the foams – some only have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer nine different versions (and hopefully have a mattress for everybody). Helix Sleep Unboxing
Below, I briefly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be thin and pliable, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you want something more luxurious, you can opt to swap out the regular cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change material to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will find a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, which means you are probably going to experience some gratifying body shaping. Even though it may seem odd for a supposedly medium firmness bed to incorporate a memory foam comfort layer, it’s crucial to remember that the presence of deep sinkage doesn’t necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it gives quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the memory foam comfort layer, you will discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to curb the sinkage of the comfort layer and establish a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the individually wrapped coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress is made up of this segment of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift into the construction, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Since the coils are individually wrapped, they are also going to encourage extra breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last, you will discover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t really affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s talk about their varying feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix will differ widely depending on which model you choose. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be quite versatile and therefore best-selling. If you have more specific needs, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with additional choices.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam layer is soft and produces some quality body contouring, while the other materials in the Midnight work to control this and create an overall firmer composition. The individually-wrapped coils and the firmer support foams also assist with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is enough good comfort material in the Helix Midnight to conform to your lumbar while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For larger buyers or people who prefer a firmer bed, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Most side sleepers will feel totally comfy on the Midnight, but, if you’re wanting less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you might want to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a small bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically have to be mindful of pressure because they sleep with all of their weight on a smaller area. Those who are smaller than average or people looking for plenty of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher models.
Stomach sleepers will feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their primary position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive tummy sleepers so they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.
Lastly, Helix Sleep suggests Helix for sleepers around 350 pounds or partners who weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. In the event you or your spouse are significantly larger than average, Helix has also produced a mattress called the Nightfall that’s created to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with differing body types or tastes can also select a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Bear in mind that if neither of these models seem right, you can always have a look at the 4 other mattresses in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option of the bunch).
Now, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that’s detectable from one side of the bed to the other. While this will be important for all people, those who sleep with a spouse may find it particularly interesting as it will show just how bothered you may be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Sleep Unboxing
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it contains, as well as the pocketed coils which help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper worried that movement from the other side of the bed will wake you, then you should not have a lot of concern with this hybrid. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
While getting a brand-new mattress, most people want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
While you are going to encounter a little immediate sinkage from the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through these layers, you will reach the individually-wrapped coils and feel fantastic support. This combination will appeal to a wide range of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers in particular.
While I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit near the edge of the Helix Midnight, the individually-wrapped coils prevent the mattress from collapsing too much . I feel very secure seated on the mattress.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be a little compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfy and secure. Partners who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Lying down, I also feel like I could get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll fall over or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I think that the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically include. Helix Sleep is no different. You create the mattress that’s meant for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it is delivered to your home. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not what you wanted, you can return it free, and receive a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. In fact, the company finds a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Sleep Unboxing
The Helix Mattress includes a generous 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it has some limitations, exceptions, plus the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most warranties). Needless to say, you should be the original owner of the mattress to make use of the guarantee, and you will need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you will need to have a suitable base (no adjustable bed frames or slats over 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix starts to have an indentation of 1 inch or more, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.
For regular cleanup, it is suggested to use cool water along gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Make certain to wash using gentle circular motions, instead of rubbing.
