Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses made with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. Helix Sleeper Earrings

Helix Sleep offers complete mattress customization. Customers are urged to complete a survey that discusses their height, weight, sleep position, firmness preferences, and other factors. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress options; each individual variant provides a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:

  • Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
  • Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
  • Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
  • Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support

Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them perfect for side sleepers. While mattresses with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter individuals may feel more comfy on variants with balanced support, while individuals that weigh 130 pounds or more tend to prefer the models with extra support.

Helix Sleep also offers two variants with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with moderate cushioning and additional support). Both of these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with differing tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier individuals. This variant has an additional layer of memory foam for maximum support.

My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable aspect accommodates sleepers with a large range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer well, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Helix Sleeper Earrings

Construction Helix Sleeper Earrings

All 9 of the different iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction should be fairly similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.

Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness depending upon the foams used in order to achieve more/less firmness and more/less support. The 4 different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are memory foam, high-grade polyurethane foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all the beds have all of the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the purchaser. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine unique versions (and hopefully have a mattress for everyone). Helix Sleeper Earrings

Underneath, I briefly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of your average Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.

Cover – Originally, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I thought it to be stretchy and thin, allowing for some great breathability. But, if you would like something more lavish, you can opt to swap out the regular cover for the UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase-change material to regulate heat.

Comfort Layer – On top, you’ll encounter a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you are probably going to encounter some great body shaping. Even though it may seem odd for a supposedly medium firmness bed to feature a memory foam layer, it is important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage doesn’t always translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feeling.

Transition Layer – After getting past the memory foam comfort layer, you’ll find a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and create a supportive, medium firm feel as you reach the individually wrapped coils below.

Support Layer – The majority of the mattress is made up of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the mattress, as opposed to “in it”. Since the coils are wrapped individually, they are also likely to allow additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.

Base Layer – Lastly, you’ll discover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment doesn’t affect the feel of the mattress too much, working mostly to provide the pocketed coils something off of which to respond.

Firmness and Support

After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their varying firmness levels and feels.

helix-mattress-firmness-and-support-scale

The firmness of the Helix is going to vary widely depending on the variant you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have medium firmness levels, which tends to be quite versatile and therefore best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to oblige you with more options.

Laying down on the Helix Midnight, the uppermost foam layer is soft and generates some high quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials in the Midnight work to counteract this and create an overall firmer composition. The firmer support foams and individually-wrapped coils also help with re-positioning.

For back sleepers, there’s enough good comfort material in the mattress to conform to your lower spine while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier sleepers or those who prefer a firmer bed, there are 2 more options for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.

Majority of side sleepers will feel totally comfy on the Midnight, however, if you’re needing a bit less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you might decide to take a look at the Helix Dusk, which utilizes a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.

Those who sleep on their side typically have to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with all their weight on a smaller area. Those who are lighter than average or people looking for lots of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher variants.

Those who sleep on their stomach should feel supported in the Midnight, particularly if this is not their primary position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their spine.

Last, Helix Sleep recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers up to 350 lbs or partners that weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. In the event you or your partner are significantly bigger than average, Helix has also created a bed called the Nightfall that is built to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.

Couples with differing types of bodies or tastes may also select a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.

Keep in mind that if none of these options sound right, you could always check out the 4 other mattresses in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the collection).

Motion Transfer

Next up, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that’s detectable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be significant for many buyers, those who sleep with a partner may find it particularly intriguing as it will show just how bothered you’ll be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Sleeper Earrings

According to my research, Helix Sleep surpasses expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the amount and quality of foam it contains, as well as the individually wrapped coils that help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper worried that movement from the other side of the bed will bother you, then you should not have much concern with this hybrid. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.

Sinkage

When buying a brand-new mattress, the majority of individuals would like to know whether they’ll feel like they are sinking “into” the it or lying “on top” of it.

While you’re likely to encounter a little immediate sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through those layers, you’ll reach the individually-wrapped coils and feel fantastic support. This combination will interest a wide range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.

Edge Support

While I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the Helix Midnight, the coils prevent the mattress from collapsing too much . I feel very secure sitting on the mattress.

In my view, Helix mattresses are well above average when it comes to edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, which is due to their newly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side will feel comfortable and secure. Partners who need more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.

Laying down, I feel like I could get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I will roll over or be ejected from the bed. Overall, I believe the Helix has great edge support.

100 Night Sleep Trial

One of the best features of buying a bed-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they typically come with. Helix Sleep is not any different. You customize the mattress that’s made for you, place your order, and in 2 weeks, it’s sent to your door. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not perfect, you can return it free, and receive a complete refund.

Should you return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. In fact, Helix Sleep does its best to locate a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, they have it recycled instead. Helix Sleeper Earrings

Helix Warranty

Helix offers a generous 10-year guarantee that covers flaws, but it has some limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the purchaser (like most warranties). Of course, you should be the first owner of the Helix to make use of the warranty, and you will need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.

As long as you follow all Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you will need to have a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!

If your Helix starts to have an indentation of 1″ or longer, which is what usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?

Helix mattresses need no flipping, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress possibly a couple of times a year to keep it from wearing down from excess sagging.

For routine cleaning, it is suggested to use cold water along gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Make sure to wash using gentle circular movements, instead of rubbing.
