Helix Sleep sells hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores fortified using polyfoam base layers. Helix Sunset Mattress Reviews
Helix Sleep offers complete mattress customization. Purchasers are asked to fill out a questionnaire that discusses their height, weight, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other options. Based on these results, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following 6 mattress variants; each individual model gives a one-of-a-kind combination of firmness and support:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
Helix Sleep mattresses that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for side sleepers. While those with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are great for all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfortable on variants with balanced support, while people who weigh 130 pounds or more tend to prefer the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets two mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both of these variants have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them great for couples with differing tastes. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid developed for larger, heavier individuals. This model has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable selection accommodates sleepers with a large range of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate movement nicely, and produce less noise than the average hybrid. Helix Sunset Mattress Reviews

Construction Helix Sunset Mattress Reviews
All 9 of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be quite similar. The 6 core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, made up of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in firmness and density based upon the foams used in order to get more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 different foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the models have all of the foams – some just have three of the four – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are merely levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer nine different variants (and supposedly have a mattress for everybody). Helix Sunset Mattress Reviews
Below, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with exactly the same cover, made of 100% polyester. I found it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some wonderful breathability. However, if you would like something more lavish, you can opt to swap out the standard cover for the UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change fabric to regulate temperature.
Comfort Layer – On top, you will find a thick layer of memory foam. This material has a slow reaction to pressure, which means you are likely to encounter some satisfying body contouring. While it might seem odd for a supposedly medium firm mattress to make use of a memory foam layer, it’s important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in actuality, most of the time it gives quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and establish a supportive, medium firm feeling as you hit the individually wrapped coils underneath.
Support Layer – The bulk of the mattress consists of this section of individually wrapped coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the structure, working to place the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are individually wrapped, they’re also going to give additional breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you will uncover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This layer doesn’t affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to respond.
Firmness and Support
After taking a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let us discuss their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on which variant you select. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have medium firmness levels, which tends to be very versatile and therefore very popular. If you have more specific preferences, however, Helix Sleep will be happy to provide you with additional choices.
Laying down on the Midnight, the memory foam layer is soft and generates some top quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials in the mattress work to control this and create an overall firmer structure. The firmer support foams and pocketed coils also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is just enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your whole upper spine in a neutral position. For larger buyers or those who prefer a firmer mattress, there are two more models for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Majority of side sleepers will feel perfectly comfy on the Midnight, however, if you’re wanting less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you might decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and gives the surface a small bit of bounce.
Those who sleep on their side typically need to be more mindful of pressure since they sleep with most of their weight on a smaller area. People who are smaller than average or those in the market for a lot of pressure relief may want to stick to the plusher variants.
Stomach sleepers should feel comfortable in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their primary position or they have a tendency to change things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their spine.
Finally, Helix Sleep suggests Helix for sleepers up to 350 lbs or partners that weigh a maximum of 250 pounds each. If you or your partner are substantially larger than average, Helix has also created a mattress called the Nightfall that is constructed to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Couples with differing body types or tastes can also pick a dual comfort variant that pairs Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of those models sound right, you may always check out the 4 other models in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (moderate feel, slightly firmer than the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest option in the collection).
Next up, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is noticeable from one side of the bed to the other. While this is going to be important for all people, those who doze with a partner may find it particularly intriguing as it will show just how bothered you will be by your bed mate’s nighttime movements. Helix Sunset Mattress Reviews
Based on my observation, Helix Sleep exceeds expectations for hybrid mattresses in this space due to the quantity and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the pocketed coils which help trap motion at its source. If you’re a light sleeper concerned that movement from the opposite side of the mattress will bother you, you shouldn’t have much concern with this mattress. I’d say that any of the Helix mattresses are a good option for couples.
While getting a new mattress, the majority of people wish to know whether they’ll feel like they are sinking “into” the mattress or laying “on top” of it.
While you may experience some immediate sinkage from the soft foam at the top, when you sink through those layers, you’ll find the pocketed coils and feel great support. This combo will interest a vast assortment of individuals, but will suit back and stomach sleepers the most.
While I do feel the foam compress as I sit near the edge of the mattress, the pocketed coils prevent the mattress from collapsing too much . I feel quite secure seated on the bed.
In my view, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their newly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There can be some compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side will feel comfy and safe. Couples who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate strong edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I can get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I’ll fall off or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I believe the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually include. Helix Mattress is not any different. You customize the mattress that is intended for you, place your order, and within 2 weeks, it’s sent to your door. From the minute you click to buy the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to check it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it isn’t perfect, you can return it free of charge, and get a complete refund.
Should you return the mattress, it is not resold or restocked. In fact, the company locates a local place to donate it. When there’s no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it is recycled instead. Helix Sunset Mattress Reviews
The Helix Mattress includes an awesome 10-year warranty that covers flaws, but it comes with a few limitations, exceptions, and the burden of proof is on the consumer (like most warranties). Needless to say, you must be the first owner of the Helix to use the guarantee, and you will need to be sure you save your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of Helix’s expectations for use, your warranty is valid. That means you need to have a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix begins to show an indentation of 1″ or longer, something that typically happens when low-density foams break down, you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no flipping, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleaning, it is suggested to use cold water along gentle dish soap to clean any dirt or stains. Make certain to clean using gentle circular movements, rather than rubbing.
