Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured using dual-layer covers, polyfoam comfort systems, and pocketed coil support cores fortified using polyfoam base layers. How Good Are Helix Mattresses
Helix Sleep gives you full mattress customization. Purchasers are urged to complete a survey that asks for their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will suggest one of the following 6 mattress options; each individual model gives a one-of-a-kind combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep hybrids that have targeted cushioning conform closely, which makes them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While those that have moderate cushioning don’t conform as much and are suitable for all sleep positions. Lighter people may feel most comfortable on variants with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 lbs or more often prefer the models with extra support.
Helix Sleep also markets 2 mattresses with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with extra support and moderate cushioning). Both these models have one ‘Soft’ side and one ‘Firm’ side, which makes them ideal for couples with differing preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for larger, heavier individuals. This variant has an extra layer of memory foam for maximum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses discovered that the customizable aspect conforms to sleepers with a wide assortment of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also have strong edge support, isolate movement well, and create less noise than the average hybrid. How Good Are Helix Mattresses

Construction How Good Are Helix Mattresses
All 9 of the various iterations of the mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be fairly similar. The six core variants (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of individually wrapped coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness based on the foams used in order to get more/less firmness and more/less support. The four different foams used within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the models have all of the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really shouldn’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull in order to offer 9 distinct models (and supposedly have a model for everybody). How Good Are Helix Mattresses
Underneath, I quickly discuss the construction (materials and quality) of the typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses come with the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I thought it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some great breathability. However, if you want something more amped up, you can choose to swap out the normal cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is composed of a phase change fabric for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you’ll find a heavy layer of memory foam. This type of foam has a slow reaction to pressure, meaning you are probably going to encounter some satisfying body shaping. Even though it may seem strange for a purportedly medium firmness mattress to make use of a memory foam layer, it’s important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not always translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feeling.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you’ll uncover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer works to suppress the sinkage of the comfort layer and create a supportive, medium firm feeling as you reach the pocketed coils below.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this section of pocketed coils. This system brings a supportive lift to the structure, working to put the sleeper “on top” of the bed, instead of “in it”. Since these coils are wrapped individually, they are also likely to encourage extra breathability as air flows through the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Last but not least, you will discover a thin segment of high-density poly foam. This section does not really affect the feel of the bed too much, functioning mostly to provide the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a peek at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s discuss their different feels and firmness levels.
The firmness level of the Helix is going to differ widely depending on the version you select. The Helix Midnight and Dusk, have moderate firmness levels, which tends to be quite versatile and thus best-selling. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to oblige you with additional options.
Lying down on the Helix Midnight, the memory foam layer feels soft and produces some high quality body shaping, while the rest of the materials within the Midnight work to counteract this and create an overall firmer structure. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For those who sleep on their back, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lower spine while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For larger sleepers or people who prefer a firmer bed, there are two more models for you in the Helix Dawn and Helix Twilight variants.
Many side sleepers should feel totally comfy on the Midnight, but, if you are needing a bit less pressure while still sticking with a flexible medium firmness, you may decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that is breathable and gives the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be more mindful of pressure because they sleep with all their weight on a tinier region. Those who are smaller than average or people in the market for plenty of pressure relief may want to stay with the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel supported in the Midnight, especially if this isn’t their main position or they have a tendency to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices might be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can make sure their hips do not dip and over-arch their backbone.
Lastly, the manufacturer suggests Helix for sleepers around 350 pounds or couples who weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. In the event you or your spouse are significantly bigger than average, the company has also created a bed called the Nightfall that’s constructed to accommodate a combined weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with differing types of bodies or preferences can also select a dual comfort option that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if neither of those models seem right, you can always have a look at the four other variants in the new collection: the Sunset (plush, softer than the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, a little firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, made for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the collection).
Now, let’s talk about motion transfer, or the amount of disturbance that is noticeable from one side of the mattress to the other. While this is going to be crucial for many sleepers, those who sleep with a spouse may find it especially intriguing as it will show just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. How Good Are Helix Mattresses
According to my research, Helix surpasses expectations for hybrids in this space because of the quantity and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the pocketed coils which help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper worried that movement from the opposite side of the bed will bother you, you should not have much concern with this hybrid. I would say that any of the Helix mattresses would be a good option for couples.
When buying a brand-new mattress, most people want to know whether they’ll feel as though they are sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
While you’re likely to encounter some immediate sinkage in the uppermost foam layers, by the time you sink through these layers, you will hit the pocketed coils and feel fantastic support. This combination will appeal to a vast range of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers in particular.
Though I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit close to the edge of the Helix Midnight, the individually-wrapped coils prevent the mattress from collapsing too much . I feel quite secure seated on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average when it comes to edge support compared to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is due to their freshly updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil system. There may be some compression at the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but lying on the side should feel comfortable and secure. Partners who need more space to stretch out normally love stronger edges.
Lying down, I feel like I can get close to the edge of the mattress without feeling like I’ll fall off or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I think that the Helix has great edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
One of the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials they typically come with. Helix is not any different. You create the mattress that is intended for you, place your order, and within a couple of weeks, it is sent to your home. From the moment you click to purchase the mattress, you have 100 nights to try it out (minus the time for delivery, so it is more like 90 nights). If it is not ideal, you can return it for free, and get a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. In fact, Helix Sleep locates a local place to donate it. If there’s no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your returned mattress, it is recycled instead. How Good Are Helix Mattresses
The Helix Mattress includes an amazing 10-year warranty that covers defects, but it has limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the customer (like most guarantees ). Of course, you should be the first owner of the mattress to make use of the warranty, and you need to be sure you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all of the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty should be valid. That means you need to have a proper foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4″ apart) and that you don’t use the mattress improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix starts to show an indentation of 1 inch or longer, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could qualify for a repair or replacement of your mattress.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it’s suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps a couple of times a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleaning, it is suggested to use cool water along gentle dish soap to clean any stains or dirt. Be certain that you wash using soft circular motions, rather than rubbing.
