Latex Mattress: The Latex Mattress is offered in ‘Blended Latex’ and ‘Organic Latex’ designs; these models have the same general structure, but vary considerably when it comes to price-point with the Organic model being more pricey. Furthermore, the Latex Mattress is available in 3 firmness options. The ‘Soft w/topper’ variant has a comfort layer built with soft Dunlop latex, in addition to a three-inch Dunlop latex topper. This variant is more expensive because of the inclusion of the topper. The ‘Medium’ and ‘Firm’ options go without the topper; the ‘Medium’ has a gentle Dunlop latex comfort layer and a firm Dunlop latex support core, while the ‘Firm’ has a firm Dunlop latex comfort layer and a soft Dunlop latex support core.

In my opinion, the Alex Signature Series (memory foam) and the Alex Signature Hybrid are great mattresses, especially at their price points.

Construction

The 3 different firmness settings of the Alexander Signature Hybrid all use the same basic structure, but with slightly varying foams and densities. Each bed begins with 8 inches of individually-pocketed support coils. The next layer is 1 inch of “SmartFlow” support polyfoam, that’s made to add airflow and assists with heat retention. Each firmness level uses 3 PCF (pounds per cubic foot foam within this layer. The following layer is 1.5″ of either 2.5 PCF copper-treated “Energex” polyfoam (Plush), 3.5 PCF copper-treated Energex polyfoam (Medium) or 4.5 PCF slow-recovery memory foam (Luxury Firm). The last layer is 1.5 inches of “TitanChil” cooling polyfoam. The mattress cover is 1.5″ of 4 PCF gel-infused memory foam within a quilted, cooling cloth. This provides a gentle texture.

Firmness

The Alexander Signature Hybrid is offered in 3 firmness levels: Plush (3), Medium (5) and a Luxury Firm (8). Firmness level is measured on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the most firm and 1 being the least firm. You can pick between Plush, Medium, and Luxury firm. Weight is going to make an impact on what you would prefer. Generally, heavier people prefer firmer beds while lighter people generally discover they can achieve more hug and contour on softer mattresses.

Motion Transfer

Hybrids usually don’t isolate motion as well as all-foam mattresses usually do, because springs allow motion to more easily move across the surface of the bed. The Alexander Signature Hybrid, though, has several foam layers above its springs. These layers help the bed absorb motion to a sizeable extent. As soon as I moved next to my partner, you could not identify much movement in her body. She detailed that she could feel it, although it was minimal. In spite of this, the mattress still features impressive bounce.

Sinkage

In case you have mobility difficulties, moving around in a reclined position may be hard. Traditional memory foam usually caused so much sinkage that it made it challenging to move around. However, if you have too much bounce, it’s easy to disturb sleep.

You will face some sinkage using the Alexander Signature Hybrid due to its soft foam uppermost layers. But this sinking feeling is different from what you would receive with a more conventional memory foam mattress as it is mitigated by the bed’s supportive individually-wrapped coil system. Meaning you’ll sink, but will still have the ability to move around easily and get out of the bed without too much work. While there is some sinkage here, it is not quite as dramatic as it would be about a typical memory foam bed. This creates exceptional pressure relief with no stuck-in-the-bed experience.

Edge Support

The inner-spring coil support core of the Alexander Signature Hybrid functions to fortify its perimeter. This produces an even sleeping surface across the whole mattress and helps prevent sinkage and sagging around the perimeter of the bed. The spring coils are excellent at providing that firm foundation you require. When I moved in various positions, I felt fairly well-supported. I could feel and you could actually see where I do sink in a quite a bit, but the sinkage in the mattress ends where the coils start. In spite of the soft foam top layers, this mattress is very supportive, due to the 8 inches of individually-wrapped coils at its base. It is super effortless to get in and out of the bed, and I’m wellsupported when I lay on the border, a big benefit for sleep partners.

Heat Retention

The Alexander Signature Hybrid is quite cool. The spring coils permit sufficient airflow, assisting to reduce body heat. The foam layers, which normally trap warmth, are infused with copper and cooling gel to offset this common problem. This bed is a fantastic pick for people who prefer to sleep cool. This hybrid does a wonderful job of dispersing and isolating warmth, resulting in a resting experience that is wonderfully cool.

Off-Gassing

Once an Alexander Signature Hybrid mattress is made, it’s compressed, vacuum-sealed in plastic and delivered to your front door in a box that is marked. Every time a mattress is compressed and vacuum-sealed, it tends to emit a temporary smell when it’s unboxed. This odor is known as “off-gassing.” You should anticipate to see this with the Alexander Signature Hybrid, but the odor should disappear fast.
