Helix Sleep offers hybrid mattresses manufactured with polyfoam comfort systems, dual-layer covers, and pocketed coil support cores enhanced with polyfoam base layers. Sleep Helix
Helix Sleep offers full mattress customization. Purchasers are requested to complete a questionnaire that discusses their weight, height, firmness preferences, sleep position, and other factors. Then based on these answers, Helix Sleep will recommend one of the following six mattress variants; each respective model offers a unique combination of support and firmness:
- Helix Sunset: ‘Soft’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Moonlight: ‘Soft’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and extra support
- Helix Midnight: ‘Medium’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dusk: ‘Medium’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
- Helix Twilight: ‘Firm’ firmness, targeted cushioning, and balanced support
- Helix Dawn: ‘Firm’ firmness, moderate cushioning, and additional support
Helix Sleep mattresses with targeted cushioning conform closely, making them ideal for those who sleep on their side. While those with moderate cushioning do not conform as much and are ideal for pretty much all sleep positions. Lighter men and women may feel more comfy on models with balanced support, while those that weigh 130 lbs or more tend to prefer the models with additional support.
Helix Sleep also markets two models with dual-firmness, the Helix Dual Balanced (with balanced support and targeted cushioning) and the Helix Dual Extra (with additional support and moderate cushioning). Both these variants have one ‘Firm’ side and one ‘Soft’ side, making them suitable for couples with different preferences. Last, the Helix Nightfall is a hybrid designed for bigger, heavier individuals. This mattress has an additional layer of memory foam for optimum support.
My review of Helix Sleep mattresses found that the customizable selection conforms to sleepers with a wide variety of body types and firmness preferences. The mattresses also offer strong edge support, isolate motion transfer nicely, and create less noise than the normal hybrid. Sleep Helix

Construction Sleep Helix
All 9 of the various iterations of this mattress will differ slightly in construction, but for 6 of the 9 models, the construction will be rather similar. The six core models (listed above) are 10 inches tall, composed of 6 inches of pocketed coils and 4 inches of foam.
Helix mattresses vary in density and firmness based upon the foams utilized in order to achieve more/less support and more/less firmness. The 4 different foams utilized within Helix mattresses are high-grade polyurethane foam, memory foam, Helix Dynamic Foam, and a DuraDense Foam (aka support foam). Not all of the variants have all the foams – some only have 3 of the 4 – but it really won’t matter much for the buyer. The foams are just levers that Helix Sleep can pull to be able to offer 9 unique versions (and supposedly have a mattress for everyone). Sleep Helix
Below, I briefly talk about the construction (materials and quality) of your typical Helix mattress, the Helix Midnight.
Cover – Initially, all Helix mattresses have exactly the same cover, made of 100 percent polyester. I found it to be pliable and thin, allowing for some nice breathability. However, if you want something more lavish, you can elect to swap out the regular cover for the brand’s UltraCool one, which is made up of a phase change material for temperature regulation.
Comfort Layer – Up top, you will discover a heavy layer of memory foam. This material has a slow response to pressure, which means you are likely to encounter some great body shaping. While it might seem odd for a purportedly medium firmness bed to incorporate a memory foam layer, it’s important to remember that the existence of deep sinkage does not necessarily translate to softness; in actuality, oftentimes it produces quite a firm feel.
Transition Layer – After sinking through the comfort layer, you’ll discover a transition layer of poly foam. This layer of foam works to suppress the sinkage of the memory foam and set a supportive, medium firm feel as you hit the pocketed coils underneath.
Support Layer – Most of the mattress consists of this segment of pocketed coils. This system gives a supportive lift to the structure, working to position the sleeper “on top” of the bed, as opposed to “in it”. Because the coils are individually wrapped, they’re also likely to allow additional breathability as air flows in between the spaces in the coils.
Base Layer – Lastly, you’ll discover a thin section of high-density poly foam. This segment does not really affect the feel of the mattress too much, functioning mostly to give the individually wrapped coils something off of which to react.
Firmness and Support
After having a look at the construction of the Helix mattresses, let’s chat about their varying firmness levels and feels.
The firmness of the Helix will vary widely depending on which model you choose. The Helix Dusk and Midnight, have moderate firmness levels, which is going to be very versatile and thus exceptionally popular. If you are more particular, however, Helix Sleep would be happy to provide you with more choices.
Lying down on the Midnight, the uppermost foam comfort layer is soft and generates some quality body contouring, while the rest of the materials in the Midnight work to counteract this and make an overall firmer composition. The pocketed coils and the firmer support foams also help with re-positioning.
For back sleepers, there is enough good comfort material here to conform to your lumbar while supporting your upper spine in a neutral position. For heavier buyers or people who want a firmer mattress, there are 2 more choices for you in the Helix Twilight and Helix Dawn models.
Many side sleepers should feel totally comfy on the Midnight, however, if you are wanting a bit less pressure while still sticking with a versatile medium firmness, you might decide to check out the Helix Dusk, which uses a body-conforming latex-alternative foam that’s breathable and provides the surface a little bit of bounce.
Side sleepers typically need to be mindful of pressure since they sleep with all their weight on a smaller area. Those who are smaller than average or people in the market for plenty of pressure relief might want to stick to the plusher models.
Those who sleep on their stomach will feel comfortable in the Midnight, particularly if this isn’t their main position or they tend to switch things up a lot. Firmer choices may be preferable for exclusive stomach sleepers so that they can make sure their hips don’t dip and over-arch their backbone.
Lastly, the manufacturer recommends Helix mattresses for sleepers around 350 pounds or partners that weigh a maximum of 250 lbs each. In the event you or your partner are significantly larger than average, the company has also produced a bed called the Nightfall that is built to accommodate a total weight of 1000 pounds.
Partners with differing body types or tastes may also pick a dual comfort variant that combines Firm with Plush.
Keep in mind that if none of those models seem right, you could always have a look at the 4 other models in the newest collection: the Sunset (plush, softer compared to the Moonlight), Dusk (medium feel, slightly firmer compared to the Midnight), Twilight (firm, designed for side sleepers), or Dawn (the firmest mattress in the collection).
Next up, let’s chat about motion transfer, or the amount of activity that is noticeable from 1 side of the mattress to the other. While this will be important for many buyers, those who sleep with a spouse may find it particularly interesting as it will illuminate just how bothered you will be by your partner’s nighttime movements. Sleep Helix
According to my research, Helix exceeds expectations for hybrids in this space because of the amount and quality of foam it contains, in addition to the individually wrapped coils which help keep motion at its source. If you are a light sleeper concerned that motion from the opposite side of the bed will wake you, then you shouldn’t have a lot of concern with this mattress. I’d say that all of the Helix mattresses would be a good choice for couples.
When buying a new mattress, most men and women wish to know whether they will feel as though they’re sinking “into” the it or laying “on top” of it.
While you may experience some immediate sinkage in the soft foam at the top, by the time you sink through these layers, you are going to find the individually-wrapped coils and feel fantastic support. This combination will interest a vast assortment of individuals, but will satisfy stomach and back sleepers the most.
Though I do feel the memory foam compress as I sit near the edge of the bed, the individually-wrapped coils prevent the mattress from compressing a lot . I feel very secure seated on the bed.
In my opinion, Helix mattresses perform above average for edge support in comparison to other bed-in-a-box brands, and this is because of their recently updated edges containing reinforcement in the coil unit. There may be a little compression in the comfort foams when you sit with all your weight on the side, but laying on the side should feel comfy and safe. Partners who want more space to stretch out typically appreciate stronger edges.
Laying down, I also feel like I can get close to the edge of the bed without feeling like I will roll off or be pushed off the mattress. Overall, I believe the Helix has nice edge support.
100 Night Sleep Trial
Among the best features of purchasing a mattress-in-a-box online is the sleep trials that they usually come with. Helix is no different. You create the mattress that’s meant for you, place your order, and within two weeks, it’s delivered to your door. From the moment you click to order the mattress, you’ve got 100 nights to test it out (minus the time for delivery, so it’s more like 90 nights). If it isn’t what you wanted, you can return it free, and get a full refund.
Should you return the mattress, it isn’t restocked or resold. In fact, Helix Sleep finds a local place to donate it. If there is no way Helix Sleep can find a way to donate your refunded mattress, it is recycled instead. Sleep Helix
Helix Sleep offers a generous 10-year guarantee that covers defects, but it comes with limitations, exceptions, while the burden of proof is on the customer (like most guarantees ). Needless to say, you should be the original owner of the mattress to use the guarantee, and you will need to be sure that you keep your receipt as proof of purchase.
Provided that you follow all the manufacturer’s expectations for use, your warranty will be valid. That means you will need to use a suitable foundation (no adjustable bed frames or slats more than 4 inches apart) and you don’t use the Helix improperly – no jumping on the bed!
If your Helix begins to show an indentation of 1″ or longer, something that usually happens when low-density foams break down, then you could be eligible for a repair or replacement of your Helix.

What’s The Best Way To Care For Your Helix?
Helix mattresses require no turning, but it is suggested that you rotate the mattress perhaps once or twice a year to prevent it from wearing down from excessive sagging.
For regular cleaning, it is advised to use cold water along gentle dish detergent to clean any stains or dirt. Be certain that you wash using soft circular motions, instead of rubbing.
